FantasyAces College Football: Week 6 Picks

This article is part of our FantasyAces College Football series.

I'm back in the classic tournament format this week on Fantasy Aces -- the only game I've cashed in on this season -- after an experiment with taking nearly the full penalty in a SalaryPro contest last Saturday. Tip: don't go max over cap, it's just to difficult to recoup those 40 points.

There are only a couple games with really high projected point totals in Week 6, after a seemingly unprecedented amount of 70-plus over/unders on the slate the past couple Saturdays. So, it's the usual suspects on top of the salary scale, with the likes of Baylor, TCU, Leonard Fournette (how unreal has this guy been) and Nick Chubb. Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Washington State also have a lot a players near the top.

One of the pots above was dipped into heavily and I found a couple bargains that should be scarcely owned from those contests, as well. What might make or break my weekend, though, is the big names in bad matchups that came at a discount. In the end, it's a true stars and scrubs lineup. Just how I like it.

QUARTERBACK

Trevone Boykin, TCU (at Kansas State) - $6,800
Boykin has been phenomenal this season and I want as many shares of the TCU offense as possible. Kansas State should be competitive, which is why I like this matchup over the most expensive QB, Seth Russell of Baylor, who could blow out Kansas handily and end up on the bench or handing the ball off in the second half.

Everett Golson, Florida State (vs Miami) - $4,550
The price is right for Golson even though he hasn't piled up a ton of points since Week 1. The Seminoles' offense has been able to employ a ball control scheme most of the season, but they may need to ramp up the production for this in-state rivalry game. I usually don't opt for budget quarterbacks, but Golson for under $5,000 will allow me some flexibility later.

Others to consider:Luke Falk, Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, Mike Bercovici

RUNNING BACK

Derrick Henry, Alabama (vs Arkansas) - $5,700
It's not often you can draft Henry at this price, but the discount is due to the matchup. Arkansas' rushing defense ranks 24th in the country, but they haven't played anyone as good as the Crimson Tide or Henry. I expect Alabama to lean on the Razorbacks in the second half as they put this game away at home.

Terence Williams, Baylor (at Kansas) - $4,100
As I mentioned above, Baylor should have no problem handling Kansas this week and that could lead to a lot of snaps for backups like Williams, who is a talented 6-foot-2 freshman that carried the ball 19 times in a lopsided game against Rice earlier this year. He's second on the team in carries (45, only 17 behind Shock Linwood) and yards (326). Williams is my only share in Saturday's game with the highest over/under (77).

Others to consider:Leonard Fournette, Ezekiel Elliott, Shock Linwood, DeAndre Washington

WIDE RECEIVER

Josh Doctson, TCU (at Kansas State) - $6,650
Doctson and Baylor's Corey Coleman are $1,000 more than the next wide receiver on Fantasy Aces this week. I will have to hit on some other bargain players, but it's worth it to land a stack of the surest pitch-and-catch duo in college football right now.

Gabriel Marks, Washington State (at Oregon) - $5,600
Oregon has given up the 14th most passing yards per game (287.2) and third most passing touchdowns (16) this year, and that's with two cupcakes on the schedule out of five games. That makes Cougars quarterback Luke Falk an excellent play, along with his clear No. 1 target in Marks. Head coach Mike Leach has been more conservative than normal this season, but he'll need to dial up his Air Raid offense to have a chance at downing the Ducks.

Others to consider:Sterling Shepard, Jakeem Grant, Dede Westbrook

TIGHT END

Mark Andrews, Oklahoma (at Texas) - $3,700
None of the tight ends are cost prohibitive this week, but they aren't inspiring, either. Texas is in shambles while Oklahoma has been torching teams week after week on offense. Andrews is a 6-6 freshman that has been a factor in the red zone, a place the Sooners should be often Saturday.

Others to consider:Stephen Anderson

FLEX

Darius Powe, California (at Utah) - $4,050
Not a lot of cash left for my flex spots, so I'll need to dig deep. After Kenny Lawler, it's up in the air who will see the next highest volume of targets for the Golden Bears week-to-week, but Powe ranks second in receptions after five games. I really like Cal this year under junior quarterback Jared Goff and the improved defense, but at the same time, I feel Utah is a little overrated with a top-5 ranking and could have their hands full. Expect this contest to go over the 61.5 line.

Desmon White, TCU (at Kansas State) - $3,700
I predicted big things for White out of the slot last week, but instead it was fellow sprite KaVontae Turpin who broke out for four touchdowns. What that tells me is my logic was sound, even though Turpin's outburst was a little (a lot) fluky. There are still plenty of targets to go around with Ty Slanina out and Kolby Listenbee limited, so I'm sticking with White in hopes he is the beneficiary this week at only $3,700.
