This article is part of our DraftKings College Football series.
Our Week 1 lineup for DraftKings' Saturday slate was quite successful, finishing with more than 219 points. Let's see if we can't do better in Week 2.
QUARTERBACK
C.J. Brown - Maryland at South Florida ($7,500)
Playing on the road against South Florida would have been a concerning proposition prior to last week, but the Bulls' weak defensive showing against Western Carolina makes us think Brown can have his second big game in a row. The Bulls gave up 31 points to Western Carolina.
Travis Wilson - Utah vs. Fresno State ($7,300)
Wilson is one of the nation's best running threats at quarterback, and like Brown, he's shown an ability to put up huge fantasy numbers when facing a vulnerable defense. Although he was pulled early last week in a blowout against Idaho State, he completed 13-of-18 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown while running for 12 yards and a score before leaving. With a more threatening Fresno State squad up next, Utah should let Wilson play most or all of the game.
QB Alternates: Jake Waters - Kansas State at Iowa State ($6,900), P.J. Walker - Temple vs. Navy ($5,300)
RUNNING BACK
Javorius Allen - USC at Stanford ($5,300)
The matchup with the Stanford defense is far from ideal, but with Tre Madden likely sitting again with turf toe, Allen should have a big workload to himself. USC will probably score at least two touchdowns, and you have to like Allen's chances of snagging one. This is a cheap price for him.
Josh Ferguson - Illinois vs. Western Kentucky ($6,800)
If you pass on Wes Lunt at quarterback, snagging Ferguson and his high PPR upside should help offset some of the point scored by Lunt owners you might play. Both teams should throw aggressively in this one, which means Ferguson should rarely leave the field.
RB Alternates: Leon Allen - Western Kentucky at Illinois ($5,800), Raheem Mostert - Purdue vs. Central Michigan ($5,400), Akeem Hunt - Purdue vs. Central Michigan ($4,000)
WIDE RECEIVER
Laquon Treadwell - Mississippi at Vanderbilt ($7,000)
Treadwell should be busy almost every week in a pass-heavy Mississippi offense that no longer has lead 2013 wideout Donte Moncrief. Vanderbilt's defense struggled to stop the Temple passing game last week, so Mississippi should be able to perform similarly well.
Stefon Diggs - Maryland at South Florida ($5,300)
Diggs hasn't had a 100-yard outing in his last five games. He's one of the nation's elite talents - it's time for a big game.
Alonzo Russell - Toledo vs Missouri ($4,500)
This isn't a good matchup for Russell, but former Alabama transfer quarterback Phillip Ely was promising in his first start last week for Toledo, throwing for 337 yards and four touchdowns, and Russell is due for a touchdown catch after going 12 consecutive receptions without one.
WR Alternates: Josh Harper, Fresno State at Utah ($5,600), Jalen Fitzpatrick - Temple vs. Navy, Devon Cajuste - Stanford vs. USC ($3,400)
TIGHT END
E.J. Bibbs - Iowa State vs. Kansas State ($3,000)
Bibbs will need to take on a bigger role in the Iowa State passing game now that the team is without lead wideout Quenton Bundrage (ACL). Bibbs caught 39 passes for 462 yards and two scores last year.
TE Alternates: Jake Duzey - Iowa vs. Ball State ($3,300), Kyle Carter - Penn State vs. Akron ($3,000)
Flex
Kenyan Drake, RB - Alabama vs Florida Atlantic ($3,000)
Alabama will put Florida Atlantic away in a hurry, meaning Drake should get some garbage-time work. Drake, Derrick Henry and T.J. Yeldon combined for 43 carries last week, with Drake getting just three, but Yeldon and Henry should see rest sooner since the FAU offense doesn't pose the threat that West Virginia's did. Considering he averaged 7.5 YPC and scored eight touchdowns on just 92 carries, Drake won't need many touches for his $3,000 salary to justify itself.
