FanDuel College Basketball: Saturday Value Plays

FanDuel College Basketball: Saturday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel College Basketball series.

Saturday's early FanDuel slate includes 13 games and the majority are not in the path of the East Coast's winter storm. Duke-North Carolina State could see a delay still, so if you're planning to use anyone from that game, it's obviously prudent to confirm the game is on as scheduled.

Wolfpack forward Abdul-Malik Abu ($8,000) is one of my favorite higher priced options, as the Blue Devils are routinely being abused on the interior.

Now, a look at some potential value plays.

Guards

Angel Rodriguez, Miami ($5,900)

Rodriguez's play of late has left plenty to be desired, and it's questionable whether he deserves to continue starting for the Hurricanes. But so long as he does, he's seeing steady minutes and the production is coming by default. He's scored at least 20 fantasy points in two of his last three and four of his last six. He's a streaky shooter, at best, but going against a Deacons team that has allowed at least 74 points in five straight and at least 83 in four of those five, Rodriguez figures to get his.

Robert Johnson, Indiana ($5,800)

Johnson is seeing an increase in minutes due to the injury to James Blackmon, and he's responded of late, averaging 9.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game over his last three. And thanks to his ability to contribute in different ways, Johnson's floor isn't as low as most in this price range.

Malik Newman, Mississippi State ($5,800)

Newman is becoming a weekly fixture here, but it's with good reason. He's only had one game with fewer than 16 points in his last 10 games, topping 20 points five times in that span. Checking in below the average price, Newman's consistency can make him the backbone of a winning lineup.

Others to consider: Edmond Sumner, Xavier ($6,600; Toddrick Gotcher, Texas Tech; $6,200

Forwards

Justin Gray, Texas Tech ($5,600)

Gray has opened a few eyes over the past seven days, playing 31 and 33 minutes against TCU and Kansas State, respectively. He averaged 30.9 fantasy points per game in those contests, which makes Gray too good to be true at this price. And that's because he played eight minutes against Baylor in between those two contests. Gray has played fewer than 20 minutes four times in his last 10 and comes with some risk against a trapping Mountaineers defense. But he's an ideal tournament gamble with proven upside.

Laimonas Chatkevicius , South Carolina ($5,900)

Chatkevicius has played at least 32 minutes in his last two games after having not topped 28 in any previous outing. It's resulted in averages of 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds, or roughly 27 fantasy points, per game. He'd topped 15 fantasy points in eight of his previous 10 games and seems to offer a nice blend of higher floor and lower ceiling to make him an option in all formats.

Johnathan Motley, Baylor ($6,500)

Motley is another player who has proven what he can do when given the opportunity. He has two games with at least 38 fantasy points in his last four outings, both of which he played more than 33 minutes. The problem is he's played fewer than 22 minutes in eight of his last 10 games, which has resulted in six games with 10.8 or fewer fantasy points. The price seems a little high for a player coming off the bench, but the hope here is that playing against the current No. 1 ranked Sooners leads to the Bears playing their top players, which Motley clearly is.

Others to consider: Desi Rodriguez, Seton Hall ($6,200); I.J. Ready, Ole Miss ($5,800)
