Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Even the Guardians would probably privately admit that they'd like a mulligan on Bazzana as the No. 1 overall pick in 2024. He looks like a future big-league regular at second base, but the only thing he's shown he can do consistently at a high clip is get on base. The only second baseman to ever be selected first overall, Bazzana slashed .245/.389/.424 with nine home runs and 12 steals in 84 games across Double-A and Triple-A in 2025. Oblique injuries in the middle of the season and at the end of the season limited his availability and may have affected his performance. Bazzana is an extremely patient hitter (38.8 percent swing rate), which is a plus for the Guardians, but for a player without plus game power, it caps his counting stat upside and may result in lower batting averages than his pre-draft scouting report projected. There's still 20/20 upside with Bazzana, whose draft pedigree will buy him maximum opportunities over the next couple years, but he's significantly more valuable in OBP leagues. He'll surely get a shot in the first half if he's performing well at Triple-A, but expectations should be tempered. Read Past Outlooks
Responds to day off
Bazzana went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Friday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the White Sox.
Analysis
Bazzana, who was given a day off Wednesday amid a 2-for-29 stretch, logged a second consecutive multi-hit game Friday. He's 4-for-8 with two walks, two RBI and two runs scored since getting a breather. While this two-game response is encouraging, the rookie has more to do to prove that he's adjusted to the adjustments of MLB pitching. Bazzana's .643 OPS for the month of June was 231 points lower than it was in May.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
The first-overall pick in 2024, Bazzana may be held to an unreasonable standard just due to the fact he was the first pick in what may end up being a below-average draft class. The only second baseman to ever be selected first overall in the draft, Bazzana hails from Australia and put up cartoonish numbers as an amateur in the West Coast League, Cape Cod League and three seasons of Pac-12 play. He slashed .238/.369/.396 with three home runs, five steals, a 25.4 percent strikeout rate and a 69.3 percent contact rate in 27 games for High-A Lake County. Bazzana's 24.2 percent hard-hit rate was mediocre, given his pedigree and the level he was at, and at best, he could develop plus power, almost all of which will go to the pull side. His hit tool is supposed to be the carrying tool, but it wasn't airtight at High-A, which was a fair level assignment. Bazzana is a plus runner, which gives fantasy managers another path to value, but if he's not at least a plus hitter with above-average power, he'll go down as a disappointment. Brayan Rocchio's late-season improvements will allow Cleveland to keep Bazzana in the minors until he forces the issue, which may not be until 2026.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Makes All-Star roster
Bazzana was selected as the backup at second base in the American League for the 2026 All-Star Game, David Schoenfield of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis
According to Schoenfield, Bazzana was probably "the best option" for the backup role at 2B while acknowledging that the player pool at second in the AL is probably the weakest position group of the entire All-Star Game. The Guardians rookie will be the backup of the Blue Jays' Ernie Clement, who was selected as the starter.
