Game Preview

This contest sees the league-leading Dinos travel to take on the Wyverns, who are tied for last in the standings. The Dinos swept their mid-week series with the Wiz but were hardly dominant, winning each contest by exactly one run. The Wyverns, meanwhile, were swept by the Twins, extending their losing streak to six games, quite a terrible start for a team that finished tied for the best regular-season record in the league last season. Friday's matchup will be a battle between a pair of decent righties. The Dinos' Lee Jae-hak picked up the win in his season debut against the Twins but wasn't particularly good, allowing four runs in 5.1 innings. He recorded a solid 3.75 ERA last season, though he struck out a modest 16.3 percent of opposing batters. Moon Seung-won takes the hill for the Wyverns. He was likewise unimpressive in his season debut, giving up four runs in 5.2 innings against the Giants, but he also produced fairly strong numbers last season. He recorded a 3.88 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP in 2019, though his 16.9 percent strikeout rate was similarly mediocre.

Injuries

Mo Chang-min, Dinos - Out - Shoulder

May 12 - Mo will miss the next two weeks as a result of his shoulder injury, KBO Analyst Jin-Hyeok Jang reports. Mo sat out NC's last game Sunday after injuring his shoulder in the club's previous game Friday, and it turns out he will miss extended time beyond that. Lee Won-jae, as well as another player or two, should see more action in Mo's absence.

Chae Tae-in, Wyverns - Out - Ribs

May 12 - Chae will be out six weeks with a right intercostal injury, KBO analyst Jin-Hyeok Jang reports. Chae has not played frequently for SK this season, but the club will be a bit thin at first base until he recovers from his injury. They should be just fine in his absence, though, as fellow first baseman Jamie Romak has started every game at the position to date.

Ko Jong-wook, Wyverns - Out - Ankle

May 12 - Ko (ankle) is expected to miss about two weeks, Dan Kurtz of MyKBO.net reports. Ko appeared to roll his ankle while catching a flyball early in Wednesday's game. He has been removed from the active roster. Noh Soo-kwang replaced Ko in left field Wednesday, and the Wyverns also have Jeong Eui-yoon and Kim Kang-min at their disposal in the outfield.

Lee Jae-won, Wyverns - Out - Thumb

May 7 - Lee exited Thursday's 8-4 loss to Hanwha with a fractured right thumb, Jeeho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports. SK Wyverns has yet to announce a timeline for Lee's return. Lee was hitless in his first two at-bats before he sustained the injury when he was hit by a pitch in his third plate appearance of the day. SK Wyverns will presumably send Lee in for more tests to determine whether surgery is necessary, but even if he avoids a procedure, he appears likely to miss time on account of the injury. Lee's expected absence further thins a weak KBO catcher pool in which the 32-year-old stood out as one of the top fantasy options coming off a 12-homer, 75-RBI 2019 season. Lee Hyun-seok replaced Jae-won in Thursday's game and would presumably be in store for regular work behind the dish while the latter is sidelined.

Top Picks

Lee Jae-hak, Dinos: The pitcher decision in this contest isn't a particularly easy one, as both pitchers have similar price tags and similar recent track records. WIth the Wyverns' lineup really struggling out of the gate, however, ranking last in runs per game, it makes sense to pick the pitcher who gets to face them.

Na Sung-bum, Dinos: Na was one of the league's top hitters for several seasons before suffering a gruesome injury early last season which cost him most of the 2019 campaign. He looks to be back on track so far this year, hitting three homers and recording a .941 OPS through eight games.

Park Min-woo, Dinos: Cheap hitters like Park, who costs just eight credits, are vital for rounding out your lineup. Park has led off in each game for the Dinos this season, grabbing 12 hits and scoring seven runs.

Han Dong-min, Wyverns: While most Wyverns hitters are struggling, that description certainly doesn't apply to Han. He owns a 1.231 OPS through his first eight games and has hit four homers, a number that ties him for the league lead.
