2026 Fantasy Outlook
Carlsson took the leap fantasy managers had been waiting for. The Ducks center posted 29 goals and 38 assists across 70 regular-season games, lifting his per-game scoring to a near point-per-game pace while skating tough top-line minutes for a roster finally emerging from rebuild mode. The 21-year-old also chipped in 14 power-play assists, 193 shots and two shorthanded goals. The hits column is barely there at 14, which caps his value in deeper formats, but the pure offensive trajectory is undeniable. Anaheim's youth wave around him, including = winger Cutter Gauthier, only sharpens the projection. For 2026-27, a 30-goal, 80-point season is well within reach, and the 100-point conversation might not be far off. Draft him in the early rounds with confidence. Read Past Outlooks
Signs massive five-year deal
Carlsson secured a five-year, $90 million contract with Anaheim on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Carlsson will become the NHL's highest-paid player with his $18 million AAV, surpassing the $17 million AAV deal for Minnesota's Kirill Kaprizov. The 21-year-old Carlsson will no doubt be expected to continue stepping up his production after recording 29 goals and 38 assists in 70 regular-season games last year. It's possible, with Carlsson capable of reaching the 40-goal threshold if he can play a full 84-game schedule.

2024
2023
Carlsson showed some improvement offensively in his sophomore season, jumping from 12 goals and 29 points across 55 appearances with Anaheim in 2023-24 to 20 goals and 45 points in 76 outings last campaign. Although that’s not a big increase in terms of points per game, the jump did come despite his average ice time dipping to 16:14 in 2024-25 from 18:07 a year prior, so he showed a significant boost year-over-year in points per 60 minutes. It’s still less production than you’d want from the 2023 second-overall pick, but he didn’t have much to work with in Anaheim. No Ducks player reached the 25-goal or 60-point mark last season, but the silver lining is that the franchise has assembled a promising young forward group, including Carlsson, so there’s a fair chance they’ll grow together and combine for meaningfully better production this season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Won't compete at Worlds
Carlsson will sit out the 2026 IIHF World Championship, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Carlsson is a restricted free agent this summer, so an injury at the Worlds could impact his bottom line. The 21-year-old center looks poised to cash in coming off his entry-level contract, especially after setting new career highs this season with 29 goals, 38 assists and 18 power-play points over 70 regular-season games. Looking ahead to next year, the Swede should be capable of pushing those career totals even higher.
