Kansas City Chiefs
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Gray posted nearly identical stats in 2022 and 2023, going from 28 catches for 299 receiving yards and two scrimmage touchdowns to 28 catches for 305 yards and two touchdowns. Gray played at least 47 percent of snaps in all but four games last season, but Travis Kelce got the vast majority of targets at tight end. The 2023 season opener was the only game in which Patrick Mahomes played but Kelce didn’t, and while Gray set a career high with five targets in that game, his three catches for 31 yards were nothing to write home about. Gray’s best path to fantasy relevance would be a Kelce injury, but even in that scenario, it’s unclear whether Gray has the pass catching skills to be more than a supporting piece in a Kansas City offense that beefed up its receiving corps in the offseason and added tight end Jared Wiley in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Sees downturn in playing time
TEKansas City Chiefs
November 12, 2024
Gray hauled in each of his two targets for 18 yards during Sunday's 16-14 win versus the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
After a promising four-game stretch spanning Week 4 to Week 8 that saw Gray post 13 catches for 158 yards, the fourth-year tight end has posted just two catches total over the past two games. Gray also saw a slight downturn in his playing time, just 39 snaps (57 percent) after he crossed the 60-percent threshold in each of the last three games. Either way, Gray has yet to find pay dirt this season and is the clear No. 2 at tight end, so he's likely nothing more than a deep dynasty stash at this point.

How often does Noah Gray run a route when on the field for a pass play?
This data will let you see how Noah Gray and the other tight ends for the Chiefs are being used. Some tight ends may have a lot of snaps, but they're not that useful for fantasy purposes because they're not actually running routes. This data will help you see when this is the case.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
2021
The Chiefs selected Gray in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft, hoping to develop him into Travis Kelce's heir at the tight end position. After a quiet first season with only seven grabs for 36 yards and a score, Gray upped his production in his second pro campaign, reeling in 28 passes for 299 yards and a single score. The 24-year-old enters the coming season in a similar situation, still working in a complementary role behind Kelce. In that context, Gray is unlikely to garner much fantasy interest outside of some dynasty formats, but he could move on to the radar should Kelce miss time.
Kansas City spent a fifth-round pick on Gray in 2021 with hopes of him potentially developing into a replacement for Travis Kelce down the road. As a rookie, he caught seven of his 10 targets for 36 yards and a TD in 16 games. In the event that starter Travis Kelce misses time for any reason in 2022, it's unclear who would fill in as the team's starting TE, with a time-share approach in which Gray -- a 2021 fifth-rounder -- would likely be a factor, along with Blake Bell and Jody Fortson.
Selected in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Gray is likely viewed as a developmental player at the tight end position with a pair of veterans in Travis Kelce and Blake Bell slotted ahead of him in the pecking order. Kelce is 31 years old, so it's possible Gray could be a contributor down the road if the Chiefs' star tight end has plans to retire in the coming seasons. Gray's best campaign at Duke came as a junior in 2019, when he racked up 51 catches for 392 yards and three touchdowns on 72 targets. He'll likely need to improve his blocking before being entrusted with regular snaps, though Gray could be a somewhat interesting receiving option should injuries open up opportunities for him in Kansas City's offense.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could help fill in for Rice
TEKansas City Chiefs
October 3, 2024
Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Patrick Mahomes said Gray is among the players he expects to step up while Rashee Rice is sidelined by a knee injury, per Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com. "You'll see guys like JuJu [Smith-Schuster] and Justin Watson and Noah Gray and really a lot of guys that are going to come in and make plays," Mahomes said.
ANALYSIS
It makes sense that Mahomes highlighted some of the team's other wide receivers as candidates for larger roles while Rice recovers from a knee injury that's expected to carry a multi-week absence if not end his season. Gray's name being thrown in there is more surprising, but it hints at the possibility of Kansas City running more heavy sets with both Travis Kelce and Gray on the field. Through four weeks, Gray is fourth on the team with 90 receiving yards, trailing Rice, Kelce and Xavier Worthy.
