2026 Fantasy Outlook
The Jaguars made an enormous investment in Hunter and didn't get much out of it in Year 1. He looked capable at cornerback, but played just 162 defensive snaps in seven games. On offense, he played exactly twice as many snaps, 46.3 per game, mostly seeing screens and other quick targets (to little effect) over the first few weeks. He got a few downfield shots as the season progressed, producing five gains of 20-plus yards in Weeks 4-7, only to suffer a season-ending LCL tear in practice. The Jaguars then traded for and extended Jakobi Meyers, who was an upgrade on Hunter, yet eventually played second fiddle to Parker Washington at the end of the season. Even Brian Thomas looked better as the year went on, albeit in a lower-volume role after flopping as the WR1. Various reports suggest Hunter will play more cornerback in 2026 than he did as a rookie, but Jacksonville brass hasn't commented on specifics, simply maintaining their stance that he'll be used on both sides of the ball. Expected to play both WR and CB
Jaguars GM James Gladstone said Wednesday that Hunter (knee) should be a "full go" for training camp and will continue playing on both sides of the ball, per The Rich Eisen Show.
ANALYSIS
Gladstone made similar comments about positional expectations in January, saying Hunter will play on both sides of the ball (without elaborating on the extent). Jacksonville brass may not even have an answer there internally, after Hunter's rookie season was cut short by an LCL tear at the end of October. Fellow WRs Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington then emerged down the stretch, teaming up with Brian Thomas to form a solid trio at the position. All three are still under contract, whereas Jacksonville lost CB Greg Newsome to the Giants in free agency, leaving a clear opening for a starting job. Conventional wisdom right now suggests Hunter will fill that job while working in a part-time role on offense. It's a reasonable expectation, yet best viewed as an evolving situation rather than a locked-in plan. For now, Hunter is a limited participant in the offseason program, with early workouts unlikely to provide any meaningful hint about his NFL future.

After winning the Heisman Trophy last year, Hunter will soon become the NFL's first true two-way player since his mentor, Deion Sanders, played about half of the Cowboys' snaps on offense in 1996. While some called him a cornerback first and foremost during the pre-draft process, the Browns said otherwise, only to then trade the No. 2 overall pick to Jacksonville. Fortunately for prospective fantasy managers, the Jaguars used the pick on Hunter and were quick to announce that he'll start off prioritizing offense. Landing in Jacksonville rather than Cleveland also means better QB play, catching passes from Trevor Lawrence, although it'll be hard to eclipse 2024 first-round pick Brian Thomas as the primary target in a new-look attack under former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen. Coming off a 1,258-yard, 15-TD effort in his final season at Colorado, it shouldn't take long for Hunter to emerge as Lawrence's second-favorite option ahead of free-agent signing Dyami Brown and TE Brenton Strange. While he's only about average in terms of size (6-0, 188) and didn't go through pre-draft testing, Hunter has the speed and fluidity one might expect of a former No. 1 overall recruit who became the best college cornerback in the country before also making his case as the top wide receiver. The biggest question now is whether his ability on defense limits his playing time on offense.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could see full workload at corner
Hunter may be a full-time player on defense and only a part-time player on offense in 2026, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Hunter is expected to be fully recovered from knee surgery by Week 1, but he isn't expected to see the same kind of usage he did as a rookie, when he saw more snaps as a wide receiver than as a cornerback. The second overall pick in the 2025 Draft is still viewed as having a higher ceiling on defense than offense, and the Jaguars will be losing a lot of depth in the secondary this offseason with Greg Newsome and Montaric Brown both headed for free agency.
