2025 Fantasy Outlook
After coming off the bench to start his collegiate career, Richardson started his final 15 appearances under Spartans coach Tom Izzo, averaging 16.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.9 steals in 30.4 minutes per game during that stretch. Jase received Third-Team All-Big Ten honors and was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. As expected, given his family background, Richardson appears to have been trained by professionals his entire life. He's an elite shooter who's great at navigating screens, and his tape is like watching shooting drills. Richardson's 1-on-1 game relies on lethal stepback and hesitation moves, but he'll need to expand his game to be a go-to scorer in the NBA. He isn't a true point guard, but his shooting ability gives him a gravitational pull with defenders, and he's willing to find the open guy. There's nothing flashy on defense with Richardson, but he also doesn't make a lot of mistakes, which is rare for a freshman in Big Ten play. The Magic selected Richardson with the No. 25 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Jalen Suggs will start at point guard, while Anthony Black and Tyus Jones will also get minutes at the position, though Black can also play on the wing given his size. There should be opportunities for Richardson if he can knock down his open triples - something Orlando desperately needs and partially addressed by trading for Desmond Bane. The Year 1 fantasy potential is somewhat low, but it's possible Richardson shoulders his way into a consistent rotation role, especially if he can provide consistent buckets off the bench. Read Past Outlooks
Nearly leads late comeback
Richardson recorded 20 points (7-12 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds and three assists over 26 minutes during the Magic's 120-112 loss to the Wizards on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Richardson saw most of his playing time in the second half when the game seemed out of reach for the Magic, but the rookie first-rounder ended up leading the team in scoring while contributing to Orlando's late comeback attempt. Richardson has seen extended playing time off the bench in back-to-back games, due in part to the absence of Jalen Suggs (knee). More strong play like Tuesday could earn Richardson more consistent minutes moving forward.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Looks strong in preseason opener
Richardson impressed coach Jamahl Mosley with his play in Saturday's 126-118 preseason win over the Heat, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
"There's just a level of confidence that he possesses reading the game, recognizing what guys are doing and how they're playing him," Mosley said. "His speed is such a big advantage for him, but then the other side of it is we talked all the time about how inquisitive he is and how he wants to know what to do in any situation." The No. 25 pick in the 2025 NBA draft, Richardson finished with a team-high 13 points on 5-for-11 shooting, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, to go with four rebounds, two assists, and a steal. This was just one game, obviously, but Richardson will be pushing hard for a rotation spot right away.
