PLAYER RECOMMENDATIONS
FORWARD
Liverpool Strike Force: Liverpool ripped Maribor 7-0 in Slovenia, and now back in their home confines there's no reason to think they won't keep the goals flowing as they look to separate themselves at the top of Group E. If you stacked Liverpool on that slate, chances are you did really well, and given the repeat matchup, it could be another combination of Liverpool players that take your team to the top of the leaderboards. Daniel Sturridge ($8,000) could earn another start with Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane dealing with injuries. Sturridge is the cheapest of the bunch but Mohamed Salah ($10,200) and Roberto Firmino ($8,900) each scored a brace and can't be ignored after topping 30 fantasy points in the drubbing of Maribor two weeks ago.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, BVB v. APO ($9,900): Aubameyang hasn't found net in three straight games, but he still leads Dortmund with 11 goals in 13 appearances. Dortmund have just one point after three UCL matches and have a lot of work to do if they are to advance out of a Group H that includes Real Madrid and Tottenham. With Dortmund one of the biggest favorites Wednesday, and Aubameyang tabbed by the oddsmakers as the player most likely to score, look for him to come out firing as Dortmund go in search of their first UCL win of the season.
MIDFIELDER
Andriy Yarmolenko, BVB v. APO ($9,000): Yarmolenko has topped double digits in all three UCL appearances this season. He delivered seven crosses and took three shots in a 1-1 draw at APOEL the last time they met, splitting corners with Shinji Kagawa ($6,400) and Mario Gotze ($5,900). With Dortmund desperate for a result it wouldn't be a surprise to see a breakout game from Yarmolenko, and even if he doesn't, he's in a good spot to produce a fourth consecutive double-digit performance.
James Milner, LIV v. MAR ($7,400): With Coutinho missing out over the weekend, it was Milner who took the lead on set pieces for Liverpool. He took nine corners, sent in 13 crosses and finished with 25 fantasy points against Huddersfield. With Coutinho questionable to return by Wednesday, Milner could be in line for a repeat performance in a favorable matchup against Maribor at home.
Steven Berghuis, FEY at SHK ($5,900): Berghuis went off for 21 fantasy points against Shakhtar two weeks ago behind a goal and 10 crosses, and is coming off a 25-point domestic performance with another goal, 13 crosses and four shots Saturday. Feyenoord are in a tough spot on the road and sitting last in Group F, but Berghuis has been a bright spot and is a set piece taking forward-eligible player at a reasonable price. He's by no means a lock-and-load pick, but one positioned to hit double-digit fantasy points if he continues his recent run of form.
DEFENDER
Alex Telles, POR v. RBL ($5,600) and/or Miguel Layun, POR v. RBL ($5,400): A case can be made for rostering both Porto wingbacks (if they start), as both are no strangers to hitting double-digit fantasy points. Telles seems to be the first choice corner taker, but Layun has also been known to stand over a set piece from time-to-time. Through the first three games of UCL group play both are averaging double-digit fantasy points and a home game against RB Leipzig presents a good opportunity for them to continue that trend.
Jan Vertonghen, TOT v. RMD ($3,000): Scraping for value on this slate is tricky, and I wasn't thrilled about writing Vertonghen up, but he's been surprisingly fantasy relevant at near minimum price recently. He had four crosses, six tackles won, three fouls drawn and ended on 12 fantasy points at Real Madrid the last time these teams met, besting the likes of Marcelo at over half the cost. He's not the most attractive play, and is unlikely to start at left-back again, but he's been consistently hitting 2x value and a rematch in London could see similar production. Better options could open up once starting lineups are announced, but at the moment Vertonghen is on the radar as a salary saver.
GOALKEEPER
Andriy Pyatov, SHK v. FEY ($5,500): Pyatov is a big reason why Shakhtar are currently sitting behind Manchester City in second place in Group F. He's made 15 saves through the first three games and is averaging nearly 12 fantasy points per start. With a chance to continue their strong start in the Champions League, look for another big performance from Pyatov at home against last-place Feyenoord.
Hugo Lloris, TOT v. RMD ($4,500): Lloris turned up with some big saves in a 1-1 draw at Real Madrid a couple of weeks ago, notching 12 points through seven saves. Spurs will need more of the same facing Real Madrid at home, and while Madrid are favored, Lloris is in a similar situation where he'll likely face multiple shots and be counted upon to earn a result.
