2025 Fantasy Outlook
After forcing his way off another team, Butler was a seamless fit in Golden State. His arrival before the trade deadline propelled the Warriors back into the playoff picture, through the Play-In Tournament and past the No. 2 seed Rockets in the opening round of the playoffs. However, Stephen Curry's hamstring injury stopped the Warriors in their tracks in the Western Conference Semifinals. Butler racked up more assists and steals per game in Golden State than he did in Miami last season, but he struggled from three-point range with his new squad. Butler shot 41.4 percent from deep on 2.4 three-point attempts per game in 2023-24 but only 30.8 percent from beyond the arc in 2024-25. The main crack in the veteran's fantasy profile remains missed time, making 65 or fewer regular-season appearances in every campaign since 2016-17. However, Butler has still been a quality fantasy asset even when factoring in absences, recording nine straight top-40 finishes in eight-category leagues before regressing in each of the last two campaigns. With renewed energy and a full offseason to gel with his teammates, Butler could get back to being a top-50 option. He appears to be bought in after quickly signing an extension with the Warriors. Still, storylines can quickly change for aging teams, especially in a deep, talented and young Western Conference. Read Past Outlooks
Suffers torn ACL, out for season
Butler was diagnosed with a season-ending ACL tear after suffering a right knee injury in Monday's 135-112 win over the Heat, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Butler recorded 17 points (6-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four assists, three rebounds and two steals in 21 minutes before exiting with 7:41 remaining in the third quarter, when his knee appeared to twist while he landed on the court after attempting to break up an entry pass. The veteran forward is slated to undergo an MRI on Tuesday, but assuming the torn ACL is confirmed, he'll miss the rest of the 2025-26 campaign, and quite likely, the start of the 2026-27 season as well. Butler's absence should free up extra minutes for most of the Warriors' complementary pieces, and Jonathan Kuminga could be a candidate to re-enter head coach Steve Kerr's rotation as Golden State seeks to replace Butler's scoring production. Butler is set to turn 37 in September and will be entering the final year of his contract with the Warriors next season.

Butler hasn't played more than 65 regular-season games since 2016-17 - his final year in Chicago. Despite consistently missing time, he's still been an elite fantasy option, finishing inside the top 40 in eight-category leagues in six straight campaigns before a 62nd-place finish in 2023-24. Last season was an odd one for the veteran statistically. He averaged at least 20 points, five assists and five rebounds for a fourth straight year, plus he shot a career-high 41.4 percent from deep on 2.4 attempts per game. However, his 1.3 steals per game was his lowest mark since 2012-13, which severely impacted his value in category leagues. A healthy Terry Rozier and Tyler Herro, plus another year of development for Nikola Jovic and Jaime Jaquez, could mean fewer offensive responsibilities for Butler in 2024-25. However, when it matters, Butler is still the leading man in Miami and should see plenty of usage. His days of being a perennial top-20 pick may be over, but Butler is still a safe selection in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Unlikely to be traded
The Warriors aren't expected to include Butler, who suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Heat on Jan. 19, in any trades before the Feb. 5 deadline, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
ANALYSIS
Butler will miss the rest of the 2025-26 season and the opening weeks of the 2026-27 campaign due to the injury. However, the Warriors are going to keep him around despite the injury, just like they did with De'Anthony Melton last season. The Warriors will still consider Butler a key player when healthy and available, so they're not going to include him in any trade talks for the time being.
