The emergence of Dan Vladar meant a smaller role for Ersson in 2025-26. Ersson didn't help his own cause for playing time, either. He went 14-11-5 with a 3.12 GAA and an .870 save percentage over 33 regular-season games, taking what was an open competition early in the season into a clear hierarchy before New Year's Day. If Ersson can't improve, particularly in save percentage, he'll have minimal appeal in most fantasy formats. Couple that with him entering the year in a clear backup behind Linus Ullmark. He's also a restricted free agent, so he'll need a new contract in place. Ersson was once again able to command a majority of the starts for the Flyers, but his performance took a dip in 2024-25. He played in 47 games, earning a 22-17-5 record with a 3.14 GAA and a .883 save percentage. The Flyers carried three goalies for the bulk of the season, and all three netminders are under contract for 2025-26 as well. Barring changes in free agency, Ersson is projected to be the team's No. 1 goalie again, but he is far from a reliable option in fantasy. He'll play the bulk of the season at age 26, so this could be his last chance to prove himself as a capable NHL starter.
