Dream11 Fantasy KBO: Heroes at Tigers

This article is part of our Dream11 Fantasy KBO series.

Kiwoom Heroes (1-0) at Kia Tigers (0-1)

Wednesday, May 6, 5:30 AM EDT

Projected Starters

LHP Eric Jokisch (13-9, 3.13 ERA in 2019) vs RHP Aaron Brooks (6-8, 6.71 ERA in MLB in 2019)

Game Preview

The Heroes were dominant in the season opener, winning 11-2 and spoiling the Tigers' American manager Matt Williams' KBO debut. The offensive explosion was no surprise from a Heroes team which led the league in runs scored last season. A pair of Americans with MLB experience will take the mound in the second game of the campaign. Heroes lefty Eric Jokisch has just 14.1 major-league innings to his name, but he's had success in the KBO. In 2019, his first season in the league, his 3.13 ERA was ninth among pitchers who made at least 20 starts. His counterpart, righty Aaron Brooks, is in line for his first overseas start. The 30-year-old's MLB numbers aren't particularly inspiring, as he struggled to a 6.49 ERA in 170.2 career innings, but the fact that he has even a modest amount of major-league experience could set him up to be one of the better arms in the KBO.

Top Picks

Erick Jokisch, Heroes: Both pitchers carry hefty price tags, but Jokisch is likely worth the extra 2.5 credits. He's the safer option, as he's already proven that he can be successful in the KBO, and he's facing a Tigers lineup which finished second-last in the league in runs scored in 2019.

Park Byung-ho, Heroes: Park demonstrated his slugging prowess with a two-run homer in Tuesday's season opener. After averaging 41.5 homers per season across his last six KBO campaigns, he's as good a bet as anyone to go deep in this contest.

Lee Jung-hoo, Heroes: Lee's 8.5-credit price tag is out of line with both his talent and his opportunity. He should have plenty of chances to score and drive in runs as the number three hitter for the league's best lineup and has an established track record as an excellent contact hitter, posting a career .338 batting average through his first three KBO seasons.

Kim Sun-bin, Tigers: Kim makes for an interesting potential captain choice should you elect to bet on a Tigers victory. The second baseman doesn't hit for much power but is a reliable on-base machine near the top of the Tigers' lineup, posting a career .375 mark in that category as he heads into his 12th season in the league.
