Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Zuby Ejiofor spent his freshman year at Kansas before taking his talents to St. John's for his sophomore and junior seasons. He broke out for the Red Storm in 2024-25, posting averages of 14.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 blocks on 57.7% shooting in 31.8 minutes a night. The breakout resulted in selections for the NABC North Atlantic District First Team, All-Big East First Team, and Big East All-Tournament Team, and he was also named Big East Most Improved Player. Ejiofor is physically imposing on the court, particularly in the low post and on offensive rebounds. At 6-foot-9, 240 lbs, the athletic forward uses his strength to his advantage when going against taller defenders, as he likes to attack the basket by posting or facing up. He's got a nice touch on his shot, can finish with either hand, is great at running the floor, excels on the glass, and has shown growth in the pick-and-roll and his overall feel for the game. He has a knack for getting downhill and finishing through contact, which is something he does with regularity. The combination of size and strength mixed with Ejiofor's propensity for creating extra opportunities on the glass would make him an ideal depth piece in the frontcourt for a number of NBA teams. Playing for a coach like Rick Pitino at St. John's has also been beneficial for the Garland, Texas native, as he's improved at setting screens, defending, handling the rock and playing within a system. He shot 22.2% from 3 this past season on 1.2 attempts per game, so continuing to work on his range would only help his already solid offensive game. Ejiofor has the size and skill set comparable to Isaiah Stewart of the Detroit Pistons and Jarace Walker of the Indiana Pacers.

Selected No. 23 by Atlanta
CAtlanta Hawks
June 23, 2026
Ejiofor was selected by the Hawks with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
ANALYSIS
Ejiofor dominated the interior during his senior season at St. John's, posting averages of 16.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.1 blocks per game. He's an elite defender and solid passer, but he still needs to develop a three-point shot. Ejiofor could have a tough time finding minutes in the rotation his rookie season, as he seems likely to battle for reserve big-man minutes with Jock Landale, Mouhamed Gueye and Jonathan Kuminga.

Lakers looking at him?
CFree Agent
June 21, 2026
The Lakers could draft Ejiofor with the 25th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday, Law Murray of The Athletic speculates.
ANALYSIS
The Lakers are looking to bolster their frontcourt with the 25th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, and Ejiofor is one of the options they might consider if he's still available by the time they're on the clock. Ejiofor spent the 2025-26 season playing for St. John's, averaging 16.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game across 37 appearances. Other names the Lakers could consider in that range are Chris Cenac and Tarris Reed if they decide to go with a frontcourt player.
