QUARTERBACK
Ryan Fitzpatrick, TB vs. NYJ ($6,100) - Before laughing off this one completely, listen to a few reasons to roll the dice with Fitzpatrick this weekend in GPPs. One of the more capable backups in the league, he got in a full week of practice with the starters (sans Mike Evans) and should be well prepared for the matchup with Jets. It helps playing at home where weather won't likely be a factor and the Jets are a good matchup. They've allowed a league-high 19 touchdown passes to quarterbacks, allowing 18.5 fantasy points per game to the position (ninth most in the league). If there's any truth to the "revenge factor," that is in play as well against New York.
RUNNING BACK
Orleans Darkwa, NYG at SF ($5,300) - The lack of touches from earlier in the season has greatly depressed the price on Darkwa, who has seen 22, 12 and 18 touches in his last three games. He faces the 49ers, who have absolutely awful against the run this season. They're the only team in the NFL that has given up more than 1,000 rushing yards and more than 30 fantasy points per game to running backs (most in the league). Let's say Darkwa gets only 69 rushing yards (he's done that in three of his last four). A high-priced running back like Todd Gurley ($9,600) would have to rush for 125 yards as an equivalent looking at dollar for dollar.
Jordan Howard, CHI vs. GB ($7,200) - It doesn't hurt that the Bears are coming off the bye and Howard has been a volume monster every since Mitch Trubisky took over under center. The Bears have given Howard at least 18 carries in their last six games and should be able to keep this game close at home against an Aaron Rodgers-less team. The Packers have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to running backs this season.
WIDE RECEIVER
Adam Humphries, TB vs. NYJ ($4,800) - If there were ever a week to gamble on Humphries, this is it. He'll be one of the starting wideouts with Mike Evans suspended, and being tied to Ryan Fitzpatrick might be better than Jameis Winston. The backup to DeSean Jackson and Evans, Humphries has likely practiced a lot with Fitzpatrick, who until last week was also a backup. The Jets at home are a decent matchup with New York giving up the ninth-most fantasy points to wide receivers. Using Humphries in cash is probably not the best idea but he's a viable punt option in GPPs.
Juju Smith-Schuster, PIT at IND ($6,500) - Would it be surprising to discover the Colts released Vontae Davis this week? Smith-Schuster is coming off a monster game with 28.9 fantasy points, showing his upside. The Colts have given up the sixth-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season, and JSS will always go up against softer coverage with teams focusing on stopping Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell. If feeling very adventurous, kick the tires on Martavis Bryant ($5,100), who likely will be less than 2-3 percent owned.
TIGHT END
Eric Ebron, DET vs. CLE ($5,300) - Ebron is often the brunt of a lot of jokes, but this should be the week he gets the last laugh. He's long overdue to find the end zone and the last time he did it was Week 2 against the Giants, the worst team in the league against the position. The second-worst team against tight ends: the Cleveland Browns.
KICKER
Stephen Gostkowski, NE at DEN ($5,000) - The move from New England to Denver could actually benefit Gostkowski due to the thin air. This could allow Gostkowski to attempt longer field goals, and Denver's defense hasn't been as good as it has in seasons past. The Broncos allowed at least 21 points in each of their last four games and at least 17 in seven of their eight.
DEFENSE
Detroit Lions vs. NE ($5,300) - It's not going out on a limb betting against DeShone Kizer, and spending for the Rams ($5,400) at home against Tom Savage makes sense as well. Despite being benched sporadically this season, Kizer has 14 interceptions while putting the ball on the ground three times as well. Detroit is tied for fourth in the league in interceptions (10) and sixth in forced fumbles (10).
