After the resounding success of Amazon's first forays into the world of esports, the company announced yet another unique tournament on Friday. Champions of Fire is a brand-new event with a focus on bringing casual mobile games into the competitive space. Taking place at the Time Inc. Studios in New York on December 2-3, some of gaming's most popular personalities will battle it out with the top mobile games for their share of the $50,000 prize pool.
While competitive games are the pinnacle of esports, those games take tremendous time and effort to master. Not everyone has time to jump on the daily grind to hone their skills on League of Legends or Overwatch, however. Amazon is attempting to capture the more casual side of the esports market with Champions of Fire. The games generally have a much shorter learning curve, which allows these personalities to jump in easier while also letting fans get in on the action much easier. Check out a list of the games and personalities that will be featured in New York this December down below.
- Beach Buggy Racing – Vector Unit
- Beat Fever – WRKSHP
- Cooking Craze – Big Fish Games
- Minion Rush – Gameloft
- Flappy Bird Family – DOTGEARS
- Pac-Man 256 – Bandai Namco
