DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

DraftKings is running a modest three-game slate to begin the week, while FanDuel only has two matchups on the slate. Given the smaller slate on FanDuel, the analysis in the article will focus on the DraftKings salaries for each player. Each matchup figures to be quite competitive, starting with a Big Ten tilt between Indiana and Maryland. An hour later, Oklahoma State and West Virginia face off in a game that could feature the most scoring of any matchup on the DFS slate, while San Diego State and Colorado State will meet for the second time in the past three days.

Targets

Miles McBride, G, West Virginia ($6,600 DK, $7,200 FD)

McBride has been a team leader for West Virginia recently, but his DFS salary on DraftKings has seemingly lagged behind his production trends. The Mountaineers have the highest expected scoring total on Monday's slate in what should also be a competitive matchup, and McBride topped 30 DK points in four of the last five contests. The sophomore guard has played at least 30 minutes in all but two of West Virginia's games this year, and he could certainly provide at least 4x value at his current salary.

Bryce Williams, G, Oklahoma State ($4,900 DK, $5,800 FD)

Williams was quite effective off the bench early in the season, and he played his way into a starting role for the Cowboys' matchup against Texas Tech on Saturday. The transfer from Mississippi played a season-high 36 minutes as a starter and had plenty of output for Oklahoma State in the win over the Red Raiders. Williams should see plenty of run once again in what should be a competitive matchup against West Virginia on Monday, and he's one of the top mid-tier options on Monday's DFS slate.

Armaan Franklin, G, Indiana ($7,000 DK, $6,600 FD)

Franklin's production can tend to be overshadowed by teammate Trayce Jackson-Davis this season, which is understandable given Jackson-Davis' elite results. However, Franklin has also been a force for the Hoosiers this year, and the team carries one of the highest expected scoring totals Monday. The sophomore guard has ramped up his production recently, averaging 18.8 points over 31.8 minutes per game over the last five contests. Franklin has been slightly less effective on the boards during that time, but he should still be a key contributor for Indiana against the Terrapins on Monday.

Fades

Matt Mitchell, F, San Diego State ($7,800 DK)

Mitchell has the highest DFS salary of any player for the Aztecs on Monday in what should be a fairly high-scoring game for the team. However, Mitchell's production early in the season has been skewed by a monster 35-point performance against BYU, which would have been the only time this year that he would have provided 4x value at his current salary. The Aztecs get another shot at Colorado State on Monday after losing a tight matchup Saturday. While Mitchell had decent production against the Rams in their last meeting, his DFS salary is a bit high given his results over the entire season.

Ferron Flavors, G, Oklahoma State ($3,600 DK, $3,200 FD)

Flavors wasn't the most productive player for Oklahoma State early in the season, but he still started each of the first seven games for the team. He's been relegated to a bench role in each of the past two contests which would usually warrant a slight dip in usage, but the redshirt senior has been a complete non-factor for the Cowboys off the bench. He's totaled just five minutes on the court in each of the past two games and didn't convert on his lone field goal attempt. Avery Anderson ($5,100 DK, $6,100 FD) has seen a major uptick in usage while claiming his spot in the starting five, and Anderson has plenty of DFS value on DraftKings on Monday if he's starting again. Flavors doesn't have a very high DFS salary Monday, but he's had minimal playing time while coming off the bench.

Derek Culver, F, West Virginia ($8,200 DK)

Culver had quite a hot start for the Mountaineers this season, posting double-doubles in five of the first eight matchups of the year. However, he's been quite inconsistent recently, posting single figures in the scoring column in two of the last three games while averaging 9.3 points and 6.0 rebounds during that time. Both of those marks are decreased from his results earlier in the year. While Culver still leads West Virginia in usage heading into Monday's game in which the team has the highest expected scoring total of any team on the DFS slate, his recent production hasn't matched up with his upper-tier DFS salary.
