2026 Fantasy Outlook
Marks offers a steadying presence at running back, where he's just good enough at a breadth of tasks to provide stopgap functions in most running back tasks, yet he probably lacks the explosiveness or otherwise unique traits necessary to stand out. As a rookie fourth-round pick Marks took on unexpected work due to the ongoing absence of Joe Mixon, and in that role Marks held up reasonably well, missing just Week 16 with a light ankle sprain. If 2026 starter David Montgomery were to miss any time then Marks would presumably plug back into the role he had as a rookie, because the rest of the Houston depth chart at running back is sub-NFL caliber. Marks is below-average as a pure runner by starter standards, but there might be some untapped upside as a pass catcher. Marks' receiving production was actually a slight disappointment in 2025, because in college he looked like the kind of running back who could be among the league leaders in target rate at his career peak. Perhaps that pass-catching production was purely the byproduct of Mike Leach's system at Mississippi State, but Marks still presumably fit that system for a reason. Read Past Outlooks

Should have role as pass catcher
Marks is likely to maintain a prominent role as a pass catcher out of the backfield despite Houston's offseason addition of running back David Montgomery, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Marks averaged a meager 3.6 yards per carry during his rookie regular season with the Texans, but the 2025 fourth-round pick had 24 catches for 208 yards and scored more receiving touchdowns (three) than rushing touchdowns (two). He also was a productive pass catcher in college, recording at least 47 receptions in four of five NCAA seasons. Montgomery is likely to lead the Texans in carries, but he ceded the majority of pass catching opportunities to Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit over the past three campaigns, as Montgomery had 24 or fewer catches in two of his three seasons with the Lions.

Marks (5-foot-10, 207 pounds) might not have the anchor or strength to thrive on power concepts, but he could make his mark in the NFL as a pass catcher. He played more passing-down snaps in two years at Mississippi State than most running backs do in four years of college, and he then became a three-down back in his one season at USC, running for 1,133 yards at 5.7 yards per carry. As much as it's unlikely that Marks becomes a workhorse in the NFL, his path to rookie-year snaps got much easier when Joe Mixon struggled to recover from an offseason foot/ankle injury. Mixon is now ruled out for at least the first four games of the regular season, leaving Marks to compete with Nick Chubb, Dameon Pierce and Dare Ogunbowale for backifled snaps.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Texans RB room in transition
Marks' fellow running back Joe Mixon was released by the Texans on Friday following the team's trade with the Lions for David Montgomery on Monday, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The addition of Montgomery, which came in exchange for offensive lineman Juice Scruggs and two draft picks, per Bien-Aime, gives Marks starting-quality competition for touches in 2026. Montgomery is a healthier and arguably more versatile backfield mate for Marks than Nick Chubb, who is a pending free agent, and Bien-Aime notes the former Lion is projected to enter next season as the No. 1 back despite Marks having gained a team-high 703 rushing yards in 2025.
