PLAYER RECOMMENDATIONS
GOALKEEPER
Miguel Fraga, MEX v. CUW ($5,700): It may be going out on a limb by saying that Mexico will once again rotate its goalkeeper, but if this is the case, Fraga is the next in line. He has yet to earn a cap for the national team, but if he debuts Sunday, it will be in a very favorable matchup. Curacao has yet to score in this tournament, and like Jamaica and El Salvador, Mexico should have no trouble keeping a clean sheet.
DEFENDER
Kemar Lawrence, JAM v. ELS ($5,700): Lawrence was not able to take many set pieces against Mexico, but he should have plenty against El Salvador. Jamaica is ahead of El Salvador by one point in Group C, and all the team needs is a draw to advance. Against Mexico, Jamaica sat back and absorbed the pressure from Mexico's attack. Against El Salvador, look for Jamaica to press higher up the field in search of three points and perhaps first place in Group C.
Edson Alvarez, MEX v. CUW ($4,000): Alvarez has flown under the radar as a valuable fantasy option in the first two rounds. He played more centrally in the opening match as one of the three center-backs, but in the second match he played as a right-back, allowing him to send in three crosses. If he starts again, he and Jurien Gaari offer a way to save for attackers.
Jurien Gaari, CUW v. MEX ($3,600): Starting right-back Cuco Martina left the Curacao camp shortly after the opening match to make a trip to Merseyside to sign for Everton FC. Gaari is his backup, and he comes as a guaranteed starting defender for below $4,000, which is a steal.
MIDFIELDER
Elias Hernandez, MEX v. CUW ($11,800): Hernandez has been the top chalk play of the tournament. If a player can hit value through cross production alone, there is no price too high. His 41 fantasy points in the opening round represents his ceiling, while his 19 points against Jamaica is more or less his floor.
Orbelin Pineda, MEX v. CUW ($5,700): Pineda has looked dangerous in the first two matches. He subbed on at halftime in the first match and scored a goal, and in his start last game he was one of the most dangerous attackers for El Tri. Since he only played half a game in the opening round, there is a good chance he starts once again on the left wing.
Gerson Mayen, ELS v. JAM ($5,200): Mayen takes all of the set pieces for El Salvador, and last game he showed that he can score as well. His cross count offers a solid floor for his low price, and his position in the front four allows for shots and potentially more.
FORWARD
Erick Torres, MEX v. CUW ($8,900): Cubo hit the post with a header against Jamaica, and though he failed to get on the scoresheet, he was still very active and arguably more effective than Angel Sepulveda, who started up top in the opening match. He has the second-most goals in MLS for good reason, and if he starts it would be hard to see Curacao keeping him of the board.
Rodolfo Zelaya, ELS v. JAM ($7,200): Zelaya was brilliant against Curacao. His quality was apparent against a lesser squad, and even against Mexico he provided an assist. He is a force to be reckoned with and a rare piece of quality that El Salvador has struggled to find over the years.
Nelson Bonilla, ELS v. JAM ($6,900): Zelaya and Bonilla's relationship up top is outstanding. In the first game, Zelaya played a ball to Bonilla, which he finished for a goal, and in the last game Bonilla returned the favor. Zelaya offers a higher floor, while Bonilla is a much more goal-dependent forward, and definitely a spot behind in the forward rankings Sunday.
