Dorofeyev silenced any whispers of regression by leveling up again -- 37 goals, 27 assists and a career-high 64 points across all 82 regular-season games for Vegas, including a staggering 20 power-play goals. The 25-year-old's 230 shots and elite trigger remain his calling card. The assist column still lags behind the goal total, which keeps his ceiling slightly tethered, but a sniper this prolific doesn't need to do everything to deliver real fantasy value. However, he priced himself out of the Golden Knights' budget, landing with the Rangers in a draft-day deal. Dorofeyev was traded to the Rangers from Vegas on Friday in exchange for the No. 26 and No. 92 overall picks in the 2026 NHL Draft and a conditional 2028 first-round pick, per Mollie Walker of the NY Post. Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports Dorofeyev will sign a seven-year, $77 million contract extension with the Rangers.

Dorofeyev was one of the league’s breakout surprises in 2024-25 -- he led the Golden Knights with 35 goals (13 on the power play) and added 17 assists, good for the fifth-highest point total on the team. The left-shot winger’s 16:32 of ice time was a notable increase from the 13:17 he averaged in 2023-24, so he clearly earned trust on both ends of the ice. Dorofeyev also paced the team by a considerable margin with 254 shots on goal. Considering his usage in a top-six role and on the top power-play combination, Dorofeyev has the tools to be a consistent 30-goal scorer but has yet to consistently rack up assists. Unless he makes strides as a playmaker, the 2019 third-round pick’s value will be tied to finding the back of the net, though his potent release may continue to improve as he enters the prime of his career.
