2026 Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
The Steelers took Bernard with the 47th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, finalizing their offseason makeover of a lackluster WR room. It's badly needed, with head coach Mike McCarthy presumably installing a more spread-out offense to replace Arthur Smith's TE-heavy attack. Bernard initially figures to compete with Roman Wilson and others for the No. 3 WR job, behind DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman -- neither of whom has significant contract guarantees beyond 2026. The rookie has often been described as a high-floor, low-ceiling prospect, after never quite managing elite production in college. He did top 400 yards each of the past three seasons, including a 64-862-7 receiving line and 18-101-2 rushing line at Alabama in 2025. After finishing his college career strong, Bernard performed better than many expected at the 2026 Combine, running a 4.48 40 at 6-foot-1, 206. His 32.5-inch vertical was poor, but a 1.52 10-yard split and 125-inch broad jump suggest no lack of explosiveness overall. Bernard's first task in Pittsburgh will be locking down the No. 3 job. Taken by Pittsburgh in second round
The Steelers selected Bernard in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 47th overall.
ANALYSIS
Bernard spent the last two seasons of his four-year college career at Alabama, where he operated mostly as the team's Z receiver and finished the 2025 campaign with 64 catches for 862 yards and seven touchdowns across 14 games. He posted the fastest three-cone time at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine (6.71 seconds), and he has the overall athleticism and skill set that should allow him to serve as an immediate contributor for the Steelers, whether it's Aaron Rodgers or another quarterback throwing passes to him. Bernard figures to slide in as the team's WR3 behind veterans DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman and ahead of 2024 third-rounder Roman Wilson.

Visits Pittsburgh
Bernard had a visit with the Steelers on Tuesday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bernard isn't generally considered to be among the top tier of wide receiver prospects in the 2026 class, but he is likely to be selected at some point on Day 2. He proved to be a reliable pass catcher at Alabama and particularly excelled in 2025 with Ty Simpson as his quarterback, posting 64 catches for 862 yards and seven touchdowns. The Steelers could realistically consider Bernard with the 52nd overall pick in the second round.
