2026 Fantasy Outlook
At just 24 years old, Jarvis has already established himself as one of the steadiest forwards in the NHL. He had 32 goals and 66 points over 71 regular-season games in 2025-26, falling one point shy of his output from the year before. Jarvis added 224 shots on net, 81 hits and a plus-6 rating. His 14.3 shooting percentage was a bit down from previous campaigns. He plays in all situations as well -- he earned 21 of his points on the power play and another six while shorthanded. Playing a top-six role for a perennial contender gives Jarvis a safe floor of around 30 goals and 65 points, and his age suggests there could be a bit more growth to come. However, he's expected to miss some time to start 2026-27 due to offseason shoulder surgery. Read Past Outlooks

Shoulder
June 26, 2026
Jarvis underwent shoulder surgery recently and will be out 4-6 months, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Even on the short end of the recovery timeline, Jarvis would miss about a month of the regular season. The 24-year-old could be out until the middle of 2026-27 in a worst-case scenario. He had 32 goals, 34 assists and 224 shots on net over 71 regular-season outings last year but was limited to 11 points in 19 playoff contests for the eventual champions. Jarvis' absence could open the door for Jackson Blake to see a more significant role early in the year, and the Hurricanes will likely need to lean on a prospect or two to fill out the roster depending on how they fill out the team in free agency.

Jarvis had 32 goals and 67 points across 73 regular-season outings in 2024-25, matching his point total from 2023-24. The 2020 NHL Draft has been something of a mixed bag, but the Hurricanes got one of the best forwards from it when they selected Jarvis at No. 13 overall, and he’s still just 23 years old, so there might be a bit more offensive upside to be had. One area where he could grow is on the power play -- his 19 points with the man advantage last season was good, but not exceptional. Carolina as a squad ranked 25th in terms of power-play percentage (18.7) despite finishing ninth in goals per game (3.26), so that’s an area of collective growth for the squad to work on with Jarvis potentially being a benefactor of that. Look for him to push for a new career high with above 70 points.
Jarvis had a couple of decent campaigns with Carolina to start his career before finding another level in 2023-24 with 33 goals and 67 points across 81 appearances. It helped that he averaged 18:45 of ice time last season, a jump from 16:12 a year prior. After Carolina lost Teuvo Teravainen and Jake Guentzel as free agents over the summer, there's perhaps an opportunity for Jarvis to do even more during the upcoming campaign. The 22-year-old Jarvis likely still has some untapped upside too, and while it's always a bit of a risk to bet on a player a year after their breakout, there's some reason to cautiously hope for the Canadian forward to provide 70-80 points in 2024-25.
Jarvis had a solid rookie campaign, contributing 17 goals and 40 points in 68 contests in 2021-22 while averaging 13:53 of ice time. However, despite seeing a jump to 16:12 per game last season, his offensive production stayed flat with him recording 14 goals and 39 points in 82 outings. Of course, he's just 21 years old, so he shouldn't be judged too harshly for some growing pains. He still has plenty of upside and is being put in a position to succeed as part of Carolina's projected first line. Jarvis also had an encouraging showing in the 2023 playoffs, providing five goals and 10 points in 15 appearances, which might be a preview of things to come in the near future. Look at him as a decent breakout candidate, and give him serious consideration as a mid-to-late round pick in standard formats.
Carolina didn't plan on giving Jarvis a full-time role last season as a 19-year-old but the rookie played so well in training camp and throughout the year that he left them no choice. Jarvis finished the season with 17 goals and 40 points in 68 games. He added a half-dozen points with the man advantage. Jarvis is a candidate for a breakout season given his youth and the quality team he plays for, as long as he's fully healthy entering training camp. Jarvis suffered a concussion in Carolina's Game 7 loss to the Rangers in the second round of the playoffs and was still dealing with symptoms as of a few days later. If the health reports are fine, consider him a solid mid-to-late round pick.

Set to play Tuesday
RWCarolina Hurricanes
January 6, 2026
Jarvis, who is working his way back from a rib injury, looks poised to play versus Dallas on Tuesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Jarivs was working in a third-line role for the Canes at Tuesday's morning skate in addition to linking up with the No. 1 power-play unit. In order to suit up against the Stars, Jarvis will need to be activated off injured reserve, but all signs point to his return. With Jarvis back, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Mark Jankowski figure to serve as healthy scratches.
