PLAYER RECOMMENDATIONS
GOALKEEPER
Patrick Pemberton, CRC v. FGU ($6,000): French Guiana was forced to forfeit their last match after starting ineligible midfielder Florent Malouda, even though the match was a 0-0 draw. Costa Rica is the strongest team in the group, while French Guiana is the weakest, which gives Pemberton a great chance of earning 10+ fantasy points.
DEFENDER
Francisco Calvo, CRC v. FGU ($5,200): Calvo plays center-back for Minnesota United, but he played left wing-back for Costa Rica against Canada. He found himself open on multiple set piece situations, which got him a goal and several opportunities for more. If he starts again, he is a defender with somewhat of a low floor due to his lack of crosses, but also a high ceiling after taking four shots (three on goal) against Canada.
Anthony Soubervie, FGU v. CRC ($4,600): Soubervie takes all of the set pieces for French Guiana. He is listed as a defender, but he started as a right midfielder last game, racking up 12 crosses.
Felix Crisanto, HON v. CAN ($4,400): Crisanto did not start last match, but he may return to the lineup Friday after starting in the opening round. He took two shots in the opening match, both on goal, which is very rare to see from a defender. If he starts, he offers some upside due to his shot activity.
MIDFIELDER
Rodney Wallace, CRC v. FGU ($8,500): Wallace has been extremely active for Costa Rica in the first two rounds of the tournament. He assisted in the first match, while he almost provided for a few goals last match against Canada. He expends a lot of energy, and he looked quite fatigued near the end of last match, so stay tuned an hour before kickoff to see if he is in the starting XI.
David Guzman, CRC v. FGU ($7,100): Guzman took a knock last game from a tackle by a Canada defender, but he was able to recover after a few minutes. He was subbed off a few minutes later, but this was likely for precautionary measures as he looked a bit tired even before the event. It is unclear whether the knock will keep him out Friday, but he very well could be rested as the team faces French Guiana, the weakest team in Group A.
Alphonso Davies, CAN v. HON ($6,000): Davies is the leading goalscorer of the tournament, and he's only 16 years old. He has been a nuisance on the left wing in the first two rounds, taking on defenders with his elite pace and technical ability. He comes at a modest price, but stay tuned for the starting XI, as he took a knock and was subbed off early in the Canada match, like Guzman.
FORWARD
Romell Quioto, HON v. CAN ($8,900): Last game was rough for Quioto, as he had multiple chances to score and give Honduras the win (even though they got it anyway via forfeit). He is a high quality player, and also a consistent fantasy player, but in the first two games it seems he was a bit unlucky, and not fully on the same page with his teammates. The entire Honduras team looked out of sync in the match against French Guiana, but after so many chances without a goal for Quioto, he should finish one sooner or later.
Marco Urena, CRC v. FGU ($7,500): Urena is not a lock to start against French Guiana, as he has manned the front line for the Ticos in the first two matches, but if he does he is a very solid play. He scored in the first match, and looked very active in the last game against Canada, with five shots (four on goal). He has looked to be the most likely to score for the Ticos through the first two rounds, and if he starts against French Guiana, one would have to think he will continue his fine form.
Alberth Elis, HON v. CAN ($7,200): Elis, along with Quioto, was a very enterprising attacker against French Guiana. There were plenty of times when Elis found himself in a great position to either score or assist after beating his defender, but the end product showed a lack of understanding between he and his teammates. Perhaps Honduras can get it together against Canada after competing in a very bizarre situation in which the game was, essentially, meaningless.
