NFL Waiver Wire: Week 12 Early Watch

NFL Waiver Wire: Week 12 Early Watch

This article is part of our NFL Waiver Wire series.

This article will come out every Sunday night. It's not expected to be a deep dive. Instead, we'll explore players who had atypical workload and/or opportunity during the Sunday games. We won't be paying attention to whether these players will be available in most leagues. The hope is that you become aware of the short-term usage change. If you're looking for detailed waiver wire coverage, we'll have two weekly articles to set you up. On Tuesday, Kevin Payne will publish the weekly pickups. Then on Wednesday, Dan Marcus will provide you with deep dives.

Quarterback

  • Tommy DeVito threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns against the Commanders. It may be a one-game oddity, but he may be a potential superflex option if he builds on his performance.

Running Back

  • If there's a shallow league where Zach Charbonnet is available, he handled 21 touches after Kenneth Walker (ankle) was injured. With Seattle's next game on Thanksgiving, it may be tough for Walker to suit up.
  • Patrick Taylor did not play this week. However, when Aaron Jones missed games earlier this season, Taylor was promoted from the practice squad and took over the No. 2 role. It also should be noted that No. 3 RB Emanuel Wilson left the Week 11 game with a shoulder injury.
  • Even though Tank Bigsby had more touches than D'Ernest Johnson, Johnson was the clear No. 2 RB behind Travis Etienne when the Week 11 game was competitive. Johnson played more than Bigsby in Week 10

  • Even though Tank Bigsby had more touches than D'Ernest Johnson, Johnson was the clear No. 2 RB behind Travis Etienne when the Week 11 game was competitive. Johnson played more than Bigsby in Week 10 as well.
  • Salvon Ahmed appears to have moved ahead of Jeff Wilson on the Miami depth chart. If De'Von Achane (knee) misses time, Ahmed could see increased work.
  • Rico Dowdle has handled 12 and 10 touches in the last two weeks. However, those totals came in a pair of blowout wins. It is possible he begins to see more work in competitive games, but it's not a guarantee.

Wide Receiver

  • Dontayvion Wicks has four or five targets in four consecutive games. He also posted at least 49 yards in his last three games. He is outplaying Christian Watson and earning his current targets.
  • After Cooper Kupp (ankle) was injured, Austin Trammell took on an expanded role. He caught three of six targets for 23 yards. If Kupp misses time, Trammell could continue to be involved in the Rams offense.
  • Jalen Tolbert has five targets in each of the Cowboys' last three games. He hasn't had much production, but the target share is respectable.

Tight Ends

  • Donald Parham was targeted six times with Gerald Everett (chest) missing the Chargers' Week 11 game. If Everett continues to miss time, Parham may retain an enhanced role.
