Prior to the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Malenstyn was shipped off to Buffalo in exchange for a second-round pick, later signing a two-year, $2.7 million deal with his new club during the offseason. While the hard-working forward set personal bests across the board with 81 games played, six goals, 15 assists and 98 shots on net, he shouldn't be expected to offer much fantasy value given his limited offensive upside. Still, in formats that value hits and blocked shots, the 26-year-old natural center could offer increased value considering he dished out 241 hits while making 93 blocks last year. Malenstyn scored from in close at 11:31 of the first period to earn his first point as a Sabre. The 26-year-old forward signed a two-year deal in July with the Sabres after he was traded from the Capitals at the draft in June. He brings some grit to a fourth-line role, but he'll be hard-pressed to match the 21-point campaign he produced over 81 regular-season games in 2023-24. This year, he's picked up 22 hits, seven blocked shots, four PIM and six shots on net across seven outings.
