NFL Picks: Jets and Steelers

NFL Picks: Jets and Steelers

This article is part of our NFL Picks series.

Defending champ Erickson is running away with the Staff Picks (10 games up) after an 8-4-1 week, coupled with a disastrous one for Pianowski who is now back among the sub-.500 pack. If Erickson blows this, it'll be the biggest collapse of the favorite since... Tuesday night. Too soon, I know.

This week, we have two unanimous picks, the Jets and Steelers, and Stopa made the Steelers his best bet.

EricksonUntil they prove otherwise, I'll count on the Bengals soiling the bed in prime time... Went back-and-forth on Seahawks-Patriots, as with Niners-Cardinals. I'm probably wrong with the Niners, but the Cardinals went into the bye seriously banged up, and still might not have Tyrann Mathieu. They'll score a lot, but they might not stop a lot, and that's a huge line... Second-best bet is the Titans.
PianowskiI consider San Diego clearly better than Miami on a neutral field, so the line didn't make sense to me. Interesting that in DVOA, the Chargers beat Miami in offensive and defensive rank, but trail considerably in special teams. Isn't the ST rank part of why Philly is their curious No. 1 ranked team? I get the home team, the better quarterback, and the better offense and defense overall. Sounds like a good spot.
LissI had a hard time deciding between the Seahawks, Chargers and Steelers as my best bet. From a pure value standpoint, I like the Chargers who I pegged as six-point favorites rather than just the 3.5 they're laying. Seven and a half seems awfully big for the Seahawks, and the Steelers seemed to be in the right spot this week at home against a beatable Cowboys defense. I also like the Falcons and Bucs as pick 'ems.
StopaDallas is due to lose, and Pittsburg is due to win, especially at home... Arizona should name the score at home off the bye against a Niners D that offers little resistance... The Ravens offense isn't good enough to lay that many points, especially on a short week.
Del DonCrazy week with all close spreads. Good luck in Survivor if you don't have the Cardinals as an option.
