2025 Fantasy Outlook
It feels as if the start of Morant's career has constantly been disrupted. He put personal matters behind him but still struggled with injuries last season, appearing in 50 games. The 26-year-old has yet to play 70 games in a regular season, with his career-high 67 appearances coming as a rookie. Despite that, his performance has been fairly steady over the past four years, which began with two consecutive All-Star nods. The biggest change in his playstyle over that time has been replacing some of his high-flying, acrobatic attempts at the rim with floaters or three-pointers. During his age-23 season, he averaged 9.2 free-throw attempts and 5.5 three-point attempts per 36 minutes. Last year, those numbers shifted to 7.6 free-throw attempts and 6.8 three-point attempts. Injuries are still a concern this season, but his upside projects to be as high as ever. During the summer, the Grizzlies traded No. 2 option Desmond Bane to the Magic without getting a high-usage player in return. That should mean more shot attempts and playmaking opportunities for Morant. He's shown the potential to be worth a third-round pick in fantasy before. Managers may not have to select him that high given his history of missed games, but it's an outcome that will be on plenty of drafters' minds. Read Past Outlooks
Traded to Portland
The Grizzlies traded Morant (elbow) to Portland in exchange for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray on Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The Trail Blazers are buying low after the Grizzlies shopped Morant around the NBA for months. The point guard was certainly in need of a fresh start, but it's an interesting landing spot to say the least. The Trail Blazers have Damian Lillard (Achilles), Jrue Holiday, Shaedon Sharpe and Scoot Henderson in the backcourt already. Unless more moves are coming, it's a tricky spot to project Morant landing a major role right away.

Morant's 2023-24 season was delayed due to a 25-game suspension for his off-court conduct. After getting cleared, Morant looked like his usual superstar self, averaging 25.1 points, 8.1 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks in 35.3 minutes across nine appearances. However, in his ninth game, Morant suffered a shoulder injury that required surgery, shutting the dynamic point guard down for the remainder of the campaign. Morant wasn't the only player who missed time for Memphis last season as the Grizzlies limped to a 27-55 record, their worst finish since 2017-18. Morant and company are expected to be at full strength by training camp and will have playoff expectations again. However, the Western Conference has only improved in recent years, so Morant will need to be at his best. Morant has only one top-50 eight-category finish in his career -- 46th place in 2021-22 -- and has more fantasy value in points leagues. However, there's no mistaking his talent, and he's the clear No. 1 option in Memphis.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could coexist with Lillard
Morant was acquired by Portland to bolster the team's backcourt and should have a significant role alongside Damian Lillard, according to Kelly Iko of Yahoo Sports.
ANALYSIS
Morant's ability to attack the paint and create for teammates could help generate more open looks for Lillard while reducing the Trail Blazers' turnover issues. Regardless of whether he starts or comes off the bench, Morant is expected to be a major part of Portland's plans entering the 2026-27 season. The guard is currently on the mend from a UCL sprain in his left elbow.
