On Wednesday, Valve launched their "Operation Wildfire" update, providing new maps, campaigns, drops and an update to one of their most iconic maps, Nuke.
CS:GO will see seven new community-created maps entering the competition rotation:
⦁ Cruise (hostage rescue); "A dream vacation is turned into a nightmare when pirates take a cruise liner hostage."
⦁ Coast (bomb defusal); "A historical Italian village has become a terroristic target…"
⦁ Empire (bomb defusal); "On the downside, Empire Taxi Company has been discovered as a front for illegal activity."
⦁ Mikla (bomb defusal); "The alleys of a Mediterranean city serve as the backdrop for this defuse scenario."
⦁ Royal (bomb defusal); "Lord William's home town has become another high profile target of Valeria."
⦁ Santorini (bomb defusal); "Once a picturesque tourist trap, Santorini since devolved into a war zone."
⦁ Tulip (bomb defusal); "Cathedrals, falafel joints and demolitions await you. No tiptoeing allowed."
However the map that most players have been waiting to see, Nuke, has made its triumphant return.
"Nuke is one of Counter-Strike's most iconic and enduring maps. First released in November 1999, the map has undergone numerous aesthetic and functional changes over the years, yet always retained its elegant simplicity. We're excited to announce the latest evolution of Nuke in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive." -- Official Counter-Strike website.
Nuke, now available in competitive matchmaking, was overhauled to, "…improve gameplay by providing the Terrorist team with more tactical options, and to visually upgrade the map with a higher-quality, more readable aesthetic."
