Out in Tennessee
Sneed (quadriceps) was released by the Titans on Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite signing a four-year, $76.4 million deal with the Titans in March of 2024, Sneed has been dropped after spending just two seasons with the team. During his two years in Tennessee, the 29-year-old appeared in just 12 games, tallying 49 total tackles and three passes defensed. Despite his underwhelming stint with the Titans, Sneed was one of the NFL's top cornerbacks in 2023, recording 14 passes defensed, including two interceptions, while allowing just a 56.2 passer rating when targeted across 16 regular-season games with the Chiefs. At the scouting combine, Titans' general manager Mike Borgonzi told reporters Sneed was undergoing rehab on a quadriceps injury that held him out of the team's final 10 games last season. Once fully healthy, Sneed is expected to draw interest from teams in need of secondary help ahead of the 2026 season.

Sneed had rightfully earned the reputation as one of the top corners in the league during his four-year tenure with the Chiefs. Expectations were high when the Titans acquired him for a second-round pick and subsequently gave him a four-year, $76 million contract. Things didn't go according to plan, however, as he appeared in only five games before being sidelined with a quadriceps injury for the rest of the campaign. The Titans will still be hopeful he can step up to fill his projected role as a shutdown corner, but Sneed remained slowed by the same quad issue during mandatory minicamp.

Development in legal situation
Charges against Sneed stemming from a December 2024 shooting at a Dallas car dealership have been reduced, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sneed had originally been charged with aggravated assault, but that's now been reduced to a pair of misdemeanors punishable by one year in county jail and/or a fine of up to $4,000. It now appears likely the veteran cornerback, who is a free agent following his release by the Titans after two injury-plagued seasons, will likely avoid any jail time; however the alleged victim still has a $1 million civil lawsuit pending against Sneed.
