Glenn Maxwell (AUS)
First in the list features Australia's Glenn Maxwell. The veteran all-rounder has already announced his retirement from ODIs and is now completely focused on T20 cricket. Maxwell is going through a lean patch, especially with the bat in hand. In the recently concluded Big Bash League (BBL), Maxwell only managed to score 76 runs in eight innings with an average of just over 15 and with a strike rate of just over 120. Australia's team management will be hoping that the veteran all-rounder will up his game and produce the kind of performances he did in the past to ensure that the Kangaroos will have a fruitful campaign. Maxwell has represented Australia in 126 T20Is, where he has scored 2,835 runs with an average of 29.22 and with a strike rate of 155.76.
Suryakumar Yadav (IND)
Second in the list features India's captain Suryakumar Yadav. The right-hander is famous for his hard-hitting abilities, but of late, he has struggled to produce the goods consistently. In 2025, Yadav played 21 matches for the Men in Blue and scored 218 runs with an average of less than 14 and with a strike rate of just over 123. In the most recent five-match series against New Zealand, Yadav looked close to his very best as he smashed three half-centuries and finished with 242 runs with a strike rate of 196.74. Team India will hope the 35-year-old can continue producing similar performances in the upcoming mega-event.
Babar Azam (PAK)

Babar Azam (PAK)
Third on the list features Pakistan's Babar Azam. The right-hander is the highest run-getter in the history of T20Is with 4,505 runs to his name with an average of 39.51 and with a strike rate of 128.38. Those numbers, however, mean very little for Babar and the Pakistan team, as his recent form has been far from impressive, especially in terms of his strike rate. Since the start of 2025, Babar has scored 282 runs in 11 innings with a strike rate of just over 117. Those numbers are not good enough for any player at the highest level, and therefore, the team management will be hoping for a much better show from the veteran right-hander in what could turn out to be his last ICC T20 World Cup.
Wanindu Hasaranga (SL)
Fourth in the list features Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga. The right-arm leggie is Sri Lanka's ace spinner for the upcoming mega-event on home soil, but his fitness remains a major concern. Hasaranga has had fitness issues recently, especially with his hamstring, and it remains to be seen whether he has what it takes to play the full competition. Hasaranga has represented Sri Lanka in 94 matches in T20Is, where he has taken 151 wickets with an economy rate of just over seven runs per over.
Jasprit Bumrah (IND)
Last in the list features India's Jasprit Bumrah. The right-arm pacer, who was the player of the tournament in the previous edition of the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024, where he claimed 15 wickets in eight matches with an economy rate of just 4.17, is going through a bit of a lean patch, according to his own high standards. In the recently concluded five-match series against New Zealand, Bumrah finished with just four wickets in as many matches with an economy rate of 9.46 runs per over. Team India will hope those outings do not affect Bumrah's performance in the upcoming competition.
