Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

We have just one game in the NBA on Wednesday with the Suns and Nuggets playing Game 2 of their series. This matchup also provides an opportunity to play Yahoo's single game contest, which comes with a bit of a twist.

In addition to selecting two flex players, there are three multiplier positions. A player slotted into the Megastar spot will earn double their fantasy points scored. The Superstar spot will earn 1.5X their fantasy points scored. Finally, the Star will earn 1.2X their fantasy points scored. With that in mind, let's discuss some players to consider.

MULTIPIERS

Nikola Jokic ($50): By his standards, Jokic had an underwhelming performance in Game 1. He scored 22 points on 10-for-23 shooting from the field and also finished with just three assists. On the bright side, he registered nine rebounds, three blocks and two steals, propelling him to 48.3 Yahoo points. Considering that was an off night for him, it just shows how high his floor is in DFS. That makes him an ideal option for one of the multiplier positions.

Devin Booker ($34): Booker wasn't very aggressive from the field in Game 1, attempting just 12 shots. Still, he finished with 21 points to go along with four rebounds and eight assists. He averaged 19.2 shot attempts per game during the regular season and he averaged 20.2 attempts in the first round against the Lakers, so expect him to be more aggressive against the Nuggets moving forward. Don't be surprised if he at least threatens to score 30 points in this contest.

Chris Paul ($27): The added time off between the first and second rounds seemed to be big for Paul, who has been battling a shoulder injury. He scored 21 points in Game 1, which were his most in a playoff game this season. He also dished out 11 assists, marking back-to-back games in which he reached double-digits in that category. If his shoulder continues to improve, he could end up providing significant value.

FLEX PLAYS

Mikal Bridges ($21): Playing alongside Booker, Paul and Deandre Ayton doesn't leave a lot of headlines for Bridges. However, he certainly made his presence felt in Game 1, scoring 23 points across 34 minutes. He's now scored at least 39.7 Yahoo points in two of his last three games and continues to be an efficient shooter after shooting a career-high 54.3 percent from the field during the regular season. Add in his average of 34 minutes per game during the playoffs and he provides a relatively high floor given his salary.

Aaron Gordon ($17): When Gordon was first acquired by the Nuggets, he took on a reduced offensive role. However, with Jamal Murray (knee) out, they need him to score more in the playoffs. He's still not lighting up the scoreboard, but he's produced respectable averages of 13.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 three-pointers across their seven playoff games. With at least 32.0 Yahoo points in three straight games, there's the potential for him to provide value at his cheap salary.

PLAYER TO AVOID

Cameron Payne ($16): When Paul initially suffered his shoulder injury against the Lakers, Payne stepped up in a big way. In fact, he scored at least 35.6 Yahoo points in back-to-back games. However, as Paul's health has started to improve, Payne's production has regressed. He's scored fewer than 20 Yahoo points in back-to-back games, not logging more than 23 minutes in either contest. Expect him to continue to have a limited role in this matchup.
