2026 Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Nix finished QB7 in fantasy last season, mostly driven by volume as he led the league with 669 dropbacks and 612 attempts. Nearly 71 percent of his passes went less than 10 yards downfield (5th most), but despite all the short throws, his completion rate was only 63.4 percent (24th), and he finished 28th in YPA (6.4). All those dropbacks led to 35 scrambles (10th), which helped his rushing totals, but relying on volume over efficiency is not usually a sustainable fantasy path. That said, Nix was also QB7 in 2024, and there's no question coach Sean Payton’s short-passing game served Drew Brees well in his later New Orleans years. Perhaps Jaylen Waddle, for whom the Broncos traded a first-round pick, can help Nix stretch the field despite his average arm strength. Waddle and Courtland Sutton form a rock-solid WR duo, with Troy Franklin, Pat Bryant and Marvin Mims competing for the No. 3 role and providing strong depth. Nix is expected to be healthy for Week 1 after breaking an ankle in the divisional playoffs, but his progress needs to be closely monitored, as even minor physical limitations would be worrisome for a QB whose fantasy value has relied on taking a huge number of dropbacks. On track for minicamp
Head coach Sean Payton told reporters Saturday that Nix (ankle) will throw during mid-June minicamp and should be at full speed at training camp in July, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Nix continues to progress in his recovery from surgery to repair a broken bone in his right ankle that he underwent in late January. The initial recovery timeline was 12 weeks, but the Broncos won't push the third-year quarterback too much during June's minicamp, with Jarrett Stidham expected to take the majority of snaps at that time, though Nix should be a full go for training camp.

Nix didn’t throw his first touchdown until Week 4 last season but finished with 29 TD passes, the second-most all-time by a rookie, to rank a surprising and impressive QB7 in fantasy. It wasn’t all smooth sailing, though. Nix’s YPA was only 6.7 -- 29th in the league -- and while his 66.3 completion percentage ranked 15th, it probably should have been higher, as two-thirds of his attempts came within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. Of the 14 QBs with an aDOT no higher than his 7.4, Nix’s completion percentage was fourth-lowest. There’s also the question of competition. In 10 games against defenses ranked in the bottom third of the league, Nix had a 23:5 TD:INT and 7.2 YPA. In seven other games, he had a 6:7 TD:INT and 5.9 YPA. His rushing production was steadier, boosting his fantasy value with 430 yards (8th among QBs) and four TDs. He’ll need help from his legs again this year, as his 32.4 percent red-zone TD rate (4th) probably will drop closer to league average. Courtland Sutton is a solid No. 1 target, but the remaining WR roles appear up for grabs. The Broncos didn’t add much help either, signing TE Evan Engram, who is coming off shoulder surgery and turns 31 in September, before drafting WR Pat Bryant (3rd round), an expected Day 3 pick who ran a 4.61 40. Nix’s rushing helps make him relevant in single-QB leagues, but there are safer options.
