FantasyDraft MLB: Monday Values

This article is part of our FantasyDraft MLB series.

PITCHERS:

Clayton Kershaw, LAD at PHI ($26,700):- Kershaw hasn't quite been himself since returning from his extended DL stint, but on a night where pitching options are fairly thin, he makes for a solid play if you're spending up. He's actually been much better on the road this season, as evidenced by a 1.45 ERA, .208 BAA, .249 wOBA allowed and 81:13 K:BB over 74.1 innings. The Phillies also have a .272 wOBA and 24.6 percent hard contact rate versus southpaws at home in the last 21 days.

Jaime Garcia, NYY vs. MIN ($13,200):- The Twins have a 30.9 percent strikeout rate versus southpaws on the road over the last 21 days, along with a .304 wOBA. Garcia has a solid 3.38 ERA and 9.3 K/9 over his first two starts at Yankee Stadium as well and represents a value arm on Monday's thin pitching slate.

INFIELD

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI at SD ($10,800):- Goldschmidt checks in with a .414 wOBA, .278 ISO, 26.5 percent HR/FB rate and 43.6 percent hard contact rate versus right-handed pitching, while Padres starter has allowed a .336 wOBA (including 12 homers) to righty bats, and a .353 wOBA over his first two starts of September. He's also yielding a .363 wOBA on his trademark sinker this season, a pitch Goldschmidt owns a .481 wOBA against.

Travis Shaw, MIL at PIT ($8,400):- Pirates starter Jameson Taillon has allowed a .377 wOBA and 4.89 xFIP to left-handed hitters, while Shaw owns a .387 wOBA and .271 ISO versus righties on the road, along with a 39.9 percent hard contact rate versus that handedness overall. He also boasts a 42.1 percent hard contact rate over 63 September plate appearances, and a .479 wOBA against Taillon's trademark sinker, a pitch the latter has allowed a .402 wOBA on this season.

Chris Taylor, LAD at PHI ($6,900):- Phillies starter Nick Pivetta checks in with a .437 wOBA, 31.3 percent HR/FB rate and 44.9 percent hard contact rate allowed to right-handed hitters at Citizens Bank Park. Meanwhile, Taylor boasts a .397 wOBA, .230 ISO, 21.4 percent HR/FB rate and 36.4 percent hard contact rate versus right-handed pitching on the road. Pivetta also allows a .408 wOBA when throwing his four-seam fastball, a pitch that Taylor owns a .404 wOBA against this season.

OUTFIELD

J.D. Martinez, ARI at SD ($10,800):- The struggles of Padres starter Luis Perdomo versus right-handed hitters were detailed earlier, while Martinez checks in with a .392 wOBA (including 29 homers) and 46.1 percent hard contact rate versus right-handed pitching. He also sports a .601 wOBA (including 11 homers) and 60.5 percent hard contact rate over his first 64 September plate appearances.

Wil Myers, SD vs. ARI ($8,400):- Myers has compiled a .345 wOBA and 54.0 percent hard contact rate against southpaws, and has a .427 wOBA over 59 September plate appearances. D-Backs starter Patrick Corbin has yielded a .347 wOBA (including 18 homers) to right-handed hitters, along with a 32.1 percent hard contract rate.

Jackie Bradley, Jr., BOS at BAL ($6,600):- Bradley has hit 14 of his 17 homers
this season off righties, and owns a .330 wOBA and 37.6 percent hard contact rate versus that handedness on the road. Orioles starter Dylan Bundy has allowed a .325 wOBA, 5.49 xFIP and 39.2 percent hard contact rate to lefty bats, and a .336 wOBA and 40.7 percent hard contact over his first two starts of September.

UTILITY

Justin Turner, LAD at PHI ($8,400):- Phillies starter Nick Pivetta's struggles versus righty bats at home were detailed earlier, while Turner boasts a .364 wOBA and 36.2 percent hard contact rate versus right-handed pitching. He's also sporting a .403 wOBA and 40.0 percent hard contact rate over 64 September plate appearances.

Chad Pinder, OAK at DET ($6,300):- Pinder is bargain-priced for a matchup against Tigers starter Buck Farmer, who's allowing a .527 wOBA and 56.0 percent hard contact rate to right-handed hitters at Comerica Park over a modest sample. Pinder has 12 of his 14 homers this season off righties, along with a .317 wOBA, 27.8 percent HR/FB rate and 35.9 percent hard contact rate against that handedness on the road. Meanwhile, Tigers relievers have a majors-high 9.10 ERA and allowed a .444 wOBA (including a majors-high eight homers) to righty bats at home in the last 21 days.
