2025 Fantasy Outlook
From an accolades perspective, Edwards' 2024-25 season was nearly identical to his 2023-24 season. Both years, he made Second Team All-NBA, finished seventh in MVP voting and lost in the Western Conference Finals. The most significant change to Edwards' game was his prolific three-point shooting, especially pull-up threes. After taking 6.7 triples per game in 2023-24, he took 10.3 triples last season, drilling 4.1 per game. Edwards achieved this while also maintaining his free-throw rate, mainly cutting down on his mid-range jumper attempts. With Minnesota bringing back the same core roster, minus the loss of Nickeil Alexander-Walker, not much is expected to change for Edwards. He'll be entering his age-24 season, having consistently made minor improvements to his game and making the All-Star team each of the past three campaigns. He's also been one of the healthiest players in the NBA, playing at least 72 games in each of his five seasons. Fantasy managers can consider drafting him near the end of the first round in all formats. Read Past Outlooks
Unable to lead Minnesota to Game 7
Edwards finished with 24 points (9-26 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 4-7 FT), two rebounds, two assists and three steals across 36 minutes in Friday's 139-109 loss to San Antonio in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
ANALYSIS
Edwards had a combined 68 points at home in Games 3 and 4. Yet, the 24-year-old wasn't as productive Friday and delivered one of his worst shooting performances of the playoffs. With the Timberwolves eliminated from postseason play, Edwards will finally get a well-deserved break after returning earlier than anticipated from a knee injury suffered in Minnesota's previous series versus Denver. As expected, Edwards had a quality 2025-26 regular season, averaging a career-best 28.8 points with 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.8 blocks and 1.4 steals across 35.0 minutes. However, he played in only 61 regular-season contests after appearing in at least 72 in each of his first five years in the NBA. The 2020 No. 1 overall pick is projected to remain in the MVP conversation moving ahead, and that could become a reality sooner rather than later if he can stay healthy. For that to happen, the Timberwolves will likely need to make some adjustments to the roster by adding depth and other reliable scoring options.

Edwards and the Timberwolves took a step forward last season. Minnesota made it to the Western Conference Finals, while Edwards was voted to the All-NBA Second Team amid his second straight All-Star campaign. His fantasy value remained essentially unchanged, but he reached career highs in points (25.9), assists (5.1), field-goal percentage (46.1%) and free-throw percentage (83.6%). He's shown an ability to score from all areas of the court, notably adding more mid-range jumpers to his arsenal. In terms of his role, it should be more of the same for Edwards as he enters his age-23 season. Minnesota swapped Karl-Anthony Towns for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, but the rest of the core remains intact. There's potential for Edwards to take on more playmaking responsibilities as Mike Conley's twilight years carry on. And given Edwards' age, he still has plenty of potential development ahead of him. Fantasy managers should feel comfortable taking Edwards in the second round of almost all league types as an emerging star who can shoot, pass, defend and rebound.

Manages to play big workload
Edwards logged his highest minute total in over three months during Monday's Game 2 win over Denver but appeared to be dealing with some right knee discomfort, ESPN's Anthony Slater reports.
ANALYSIS
Edwards played 40 minutes and was seen grimacing at times in the second half, though he downplayed the issue after the win. Despite scoring 30 points, he was critical of his efficiency and expressed confidence he'll improve, suggesting the knee won't be a major limitation moving forward.
