2026 Fantasy Outlook
Collins was surprisingly in the running for NL Rookie of the Year as he posted an .805 OPS while providing strong defense through his first 112 games, but his play, both offensively and defensively, fell off during the final month of the season. He still finished the regular season with a .779 OPS but saw limited playing time down the stretch and filled a bench role during the playoffs. The Brewers apparently were content with their outfield alignment during that stretch, as the club traded him to the Royals in December. He will likely compete for playing time in left field with Lane Thomas, who signed with Kansas City shortly after the trade. Collins totaled nine home runs, 16 steals, 54 RBI and 56 runs in 130 games as a rookie, and that modest run production combined with a .247 xBA and .349 xSLG doesn't paint a great picture of his upside for 2026. Not starting Tuesday
Collins is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.
Analysis
The Royals will go with Lane Thomas in left field while Collins rests after a stretch of five consecutive starts. After an excellent rookie campaign with Milwaukee in 2025, Collins has taken a step back at the dish during his first season in Kansas City, slashing .218/.335/.320 with three home runs and three steals across 176 plate appearances.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Collins led the Brewers' Triple-A Nashville affiliate with an .861 OPS last season, slugging 14 home runs and stealing 24 bases along the way. That earned the 27-year-old his first promotion to the big leagues, where he looked overmatched in striking out in 10 of his 19 plate appearances. As a diminutive, switch hitter capable of playing all over the field, Collins is a utility player straight out of casting. However, his only real plus skill is his eye at the plate, and indications are that that skill might not translate at the major-league level where pitchers aren't afraid to challenge him.

Named top NL rookie for July
Collins was named the National League Rookie of the Month for July on Monday.
Analysis
The rookie outfielder has come out of nowhere as a significant contributor for the Brewers this season, and that hasn't been more apparent than in July, when he posted a .321/.411/.436 slash line with two homers, four steals, 11 RBI and 11 runs in 23 games. He's gone 5-for-12 through the first three games of August, including a game-deciding, three-homer homer Monday in Atlanta. Collins also provides strong defense in left field with plus-5 defensive runs saved and plus-8 outs above average
