2025 Fantasy Outlook
The concern with Achane as a 2024 fantasy asset was whether he could provide his fantasy investors weekly consistency, or if he was instead doomed to unpredictable and generally light workloads due to his tiny frame (188 pounds). As it turned out, Achane's 2024 workload was massive by any standard. Unfortunately, be it due to the increased workload or simply Miami's offensive struggles, Achane's efficiency fell off a cliff last year. It was, of course, impossible to maintain his rookie-year average of 7.8 yards per carry, but a running back with Achane's unmatched speed should probably average at least 5.0 YPC instead of 4.5. His compelling talent with the football might be too tempting for the Dolphins to resist overworking him a bit, and if Achane can somehow maintain his 2024 usage volume while tapping back into that 2023 explosiveness, the resulting numbers would be memorable. Swapping out TE Jonnu Smith (Steelers) for the formerly retired Darren Waller could mean even more targets for Achane (87 last year), and backup runners Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon are probably only threats to each other. ANALYSIS
Achane didn't play Week 18 at New England due to a shoulder injury, but before his only absence of the 2025 regular season, he netted a career-high 1,838 yards from scrimmage (sixth in the NFL) and 12 total TDs (12th) on 305 touches (ninth) in 16 contests. With top WR Tyreek Hill sidelined following the gruesome knee injury he suffered in Week 4, Achane served as the centerpiece of the Dolphins offense. Miami has moved on from Mike McDaniel to Jeff Hafley as the team's head coach, but the latter likely will continue to lean on Achane as the running back enters the final year of his rookie contract in 2026.

The list of prospects comparable to Achane basically doesn't exist. At 5-9, 188, Achane's frame mostly puts him on a list with prospects that were dominant in college but never found NFL success (Garrett Wolfe, Noel Devine, Dri Archer, etc.). The difference between Achane and those other small runners is that he's probably the fastest NFL running back since Chris Johnson, with a 4.32 40 time perhaps even understanding how quick Achane looks on an NFL field. The fears surrounding the 2023 third-round pick were emphatically and comically put to rest Week 3 last year when he had 233 total yards and four TDs in a 70-20 win over Denver. Achane is a natural runner who thrives between the tackles despite his tiny frame, because his instincts and stride make him highly effective at cutting through traffic. While many former track athletes have unwieldy strides that make it difficult to harness their explosiveness, Achane has no such issues and averaged 7.8 YPC on 103 carries last season. The limitation with Achane is obvious: his tiny frame doesn't stop him from being effective but might prevent him from being durable or handling large workloads. He missed five games and most of a sixth due to injury last season, and the Dolphins might prefer to keep him around 12 carries per game rather than utilizing him as a workhorse. A rotation with Raheem Mostert and maybe even rookie Jaylen Wright is all but assured, likely leaving Achane with some lean weeks when he doesn't score a TD or break off any long runs.

Draws praise from Slowik
Achane has drawn praise from new offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik for his versatility and ability to stress opposing defenses, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Achane just participated in his first Pro Bowl Games on Tuesday after rushing for a career-best 1,350 yards in 2025. Slowik had a first-hand look at Achane's exploits since he was serving as Miami's passing game coordinator, and his comments Wednesday strongly suggest the explosive back will continue to serve as a key cog of the unit Slowik now fully oversees. "I mean he's just a guy that can really do everything, and he does it all well," Slowik said. "So, if we have a piece like that anywhere on the offense -- it opens up a lot of doors, a whole lot of doors."
