Arena Football DFS: DraftKings Week 10 Plays

DraftKings' Arena Football League (AFL) contests are back in Week 10 with a three-game slate. RotoWire will be providing lineup suggestions for each of the 13 weeks of the AFL regular season, the two weeks of the playoffs and the ArenaBowl. 

DraftKings AFL lineups consist of one Captain spot, which sees the player's salary and fantasy points both multiply at a rate of 1.5x, and five Flex positions. The lack of positional specifications means that one could potentially compose a lineup consisting of players from just one position. However, for our purposes, we'll strive to highlight players from at least the top two fantasy-producing positions, quarterback and wide receiver. 

Note: Please keep in mind that these are merely recommendations on certain players and are not intended to constitute a lineup that fits under DraftKings' $50,000 salary cap. In fact, the cumulative salary of the players suggested weekly will often check in well over that figure.

Week 10 AFL Plays

Captain: Tommy Grady, QB, ALB at PHL ($15,000)

All of Grady's fantasy production comes via his arm, but it's quite the prolific arm at that. The gunslinger's latest exploits include seven Week 9 touchdown passes against the Blackjacks, a team that sported the top pass defense coming into the contest. Grady has posted no fewer than 33.36 fantasy points in standard scoring over each of the last four games, and he's notably been at his best in road games. Grady is averaging 37.8 fantasy points in standard scoring over four away contests, generating a 25:3 TD:INT. He also tallied 40.24 fantasy points against this same Soul squad in Week 3, one of his four seven-touchdown efforts on the season. Philadelphia has proven to have a ball-hawking secondary, but they've also allowed the third-most touchdown passes (42). Grady's vast upside makes him an excellent candidate for the Captain's spot with the Valor's Arvell Nelson in a tougher matchup overall this week.

Flex: Arvell Nelson, QB, WAS vs. AC ($10,800)

Speaking of the mobile Nelson, the veteran remains a solid play despite a tough statistical matchup in Week 10. It remains to be seen if Grady exposed the Blackjacks secondary a bit in Week 9, considering the Empire's quarterback racked up seven touchdown passes against them. Nelson collected a solid 35.82 fantasy points versus Atlantic City in his one prior encounter with them in Week 3, throwing for 178 yards and three touchdowns while also adding a pair of rushing scores. Following last week, the Blackjacks are now allowing the third-highest passer efficiency rating (113.2) and continue to surrender the highest completion percentage (67.1). AC is still surrendering the fewest passing yards per game (198.8) and lowest yards per attempt (6.5), however. That underscores this won't necessarily be a cakewalk for Nelson and further corroborates why he's out of the Captain's spot for me this week. However, his dual-threat capability still makes him a very appealing option if you're paying up for two QBs in Week 10.

Flex: Quentin Sims, WR, ALB at PHL ($9,000)

The Destroyers' Fabian Guerra ($9,600) is also very worthy of consideration in this price range, but Sims saves you several hundred, leads the AFL with 23 touchdown receptions and has arguably been the best non-quarterback fantasy player in the league over the last several weeks. The veteran wideout has back-to-back 50 fantasy-point tallies on the strength of a whopping nine touchdown receptions over that span. He also has 146- and 186-yard efforts in two of his past three games, making him the top receiver play heading into Week 10. As alluded to in Grady's entry, the Soul has allowed a robust 42 touchdown passes, with two of those belonging to Sims back in a Week 3 matchup. Additionally, it's certainly worth noting Malachi Jones, Grady's other top target, could at least be limited in Week 10 after missing practice in the early part of the week with an undisclosed injury. Were Jones to be hampered or even miss the game, Sims' already robust value would naturally climb even further.

Flex: Warren Smith, QB, AC at WAS ($8,800)

Smith was a fantasy goldmine as a value play last week, filling in admirably for Randy Hippeard (knee), who missed practice again to start the week. Smith racked up 49.86 fantasy points on the strength of a 329-yard, seven-touchdown day, nearly enabling the Blackjacks to pull off the upset over the Empire. Smith appears headed for a second straight start – whether due to Hippeard's ongoing absence or simply by merit – and he'll draw an excellent matchup with which to generate a successful encore. The Valor comes in allowing the most touchdown passes (46) in the AFL, along with the second-highest passer efficiency rating (116.5), second-highest passing yards per game (246.3) and highest average yards per attempt (8.1). Smith will likely have to remain aggressive to keep up with Arvell Nelson and the high-octane Valor attack, which should only up his ceiling at what remains a reasonable price.

Flex: Antwane Grant, WR, AC at WAS ($7,000)

Grant has been producing somewhat under the radar throughout the season, and he came through with flying colors again in Week 9 against the Empire. Grant set season highs in receptions (11), passing yards (177) and receiving touchdowns (four) versus Albany, and he's now recorded 24 grabs over the last three games alone. His aforementioned Week 9 explosion led to an eye-popping 55.7 fantasy points, and although that's an outlier performance, consider Grant has four other games with at least 17.0 fantasy points and another with a tally of 16.4. The Week 10 matchup could help yield more of the same, considering the Valor's weaknesses against the pass just highlighted in Smith's entry. Moreover, Grant generated an 8-102 line that led to 21.2 fantasy points in his Week 3 encounter with Washington, furthering his already strong case as a great handcuff with Smith in Week 10.

Flex: BJ Bunn, WR, PHL vs. ALB ($6,600)

Bunn's price has risen in recent weeks, but with good reason. The emerging wideout has six touchdowns over the last four contests, and he's coming off a Week 9 effort versus the Destroyers where he set new highs in receptions (six) and receiving yards (116), leading to 32.9 fantasy points. Bunn has scored at least 15.4 fantasy points in each of his last four games, meaning he's consistently provided very strong returns on his current price. The Empire could certainly facilitate an even better effort than last week, considering how vulnerable they've been in the secondary. As mentioned earlier, they yielded 329 yards and seven touchdown passes to Warren Smith in Week 9, and they also check in allowing both the most completions (194) and most passing yards per game (259.3). Bunn clearly has the trust of veteran quarterback Dan Raudabaugh, making him a potentially rewarding value play in Week 10.
