Dream11 Fantasy KBO: Wiz at Lions

This article is part of our Dream11 Fantasy KBO series.

KT Wiz (12-20) at Samsung Lions (15-18)

Saturday, June 13, 1:00 AM EDT

Projected Starters

RHP Odrisamer Despaigne (2-2, 4.29 ERA) vs RHP David Buchanan (4-2, 3.79 ERA)

Game Preview

Friday's series opener between these two sides was rained out, leading to a doubleheader Saturday. This contest will cover only the first of the day's two games, which again looks to be threatened by rain. If the game does indeed go ahead, it will feature a pair of foreign righties. The Wiz will trot out veteran Cuban Odrisamer Despaigne. After cruising to a 1.69 ERA in his first five starts this season, he's struggled significantly in his last two, allowing 14 runs in 10 innings. Opposing him will be American David Buchanan. 15 of the 16 runs Buchanan has allowed this season have come in just two starts, both of which came early in the year, as he's allowed just a single run across his last three outings.

Injuries

Hwang Jae-gyun, Wiz - 10-Day IL - Finger

June 9 - Hwang (finger) was placed on the injured list Tuesday, Tae Woo Kim of SPOTV reports. Hwang's right index finger injury is bad enough that he will require a stint on the injured list. The good news is the 32-year-old reportedly needs only a week, and perhaps less, for the hand to heal fully. KT will promote infielder Kim Young-hwan in Hwang's place.

Oh Tae-gon, Wiz - Out - Personal

June 3 - Oh received paternity leave Wednesday, SpoTV

Oh Tae-gon, Wiz - Out - Personal

June 3 - Oh received paternity leave Wednesday, SpoTV reports. Oh should not be away long, but he will take some time to be with his growing family. Cheon Seong-ho was added to the roster in Oh's place.

Kim Dong-yeop, Lions - Out - Not Injury Related

June 12 - The Lions assigned Kim to their Futures League team Friday, according to chosun.com. Kim has had a rough go of it at the plate lately, and after losing his starting spot he has now lost his spot on the roster altogether. He will get some time to iron things out and be eligible to rejoin Samsung's top team later this month.

Lee Won-seok, Lions - Out - Thumb

June 5 - The Lions removed Lee (thumb) from the first-team roster Friday, according to the team's official Twitter account. Lee bruised his right thumb in Thursday's loss to the Twins, and it turns out the injury will cost him more time. He will be able to rejoin the roster whenever he is healthy, but it remains to be seen when that will be.

Tyler Saladino - Day-To-Day - Back

June 12 - Saladino (back) is not in the lineup for Friday's game with the Wiz, according to the Lions' official Twitter page. Samsung entered the 30-year-old in the first-team roster, but Park Gye-bum will start at the hot corner on Friday. A revitalized Saladino has been patient at the plate and menacing on the bases, taking walks in 25 percent of his at-bats during June and earning four steals over Samsung's last three games.

Top Picks

David Buchanan, Lions: Both pitchers have had up-and-down seasons, but Buchanan has been trending up of late while Despaigne has been trending down. Plus, you'll save 1.5 credits by selecting him.

Koo Ja-wook, Lions: Koo has been the Lions' best hitter this season when not out with a thigh injury, hitting .367 while slugging .612 in 14 games. In the three games since his return, he's grabbed five hits.

Kim Ji-chan, Lions: Kim isn't part of the Lions' default lineup, but he was listed as the leadoff man ahead of Friday's game, which wound up getting rained out. If the Lions stick with the same lineup in this one, his role will make him a steal at 7.5 credits. He's hitting a solid .286 in 40 plate appearances in his rookie season.

Kang Baek-ho, Wiz: Kang, who's hitting .333 with six homers, 16 runs and 15 RBI in just 17 games this season, is the ideal captain choice for those building a Wiz-based lineup. He went hitless in his first two games since returning from a three-week absence due to a thigh injury but grabbed three hits and a homer in his most recent contest.

Captaincy Options

1. David Buchanan

2. Koo Ja-wook
