Hot
Clarke MacArthur (W) Toronto – MacArthur is on pace for his best season to date in both goals and assists. He is the sort of player that fantasy owners don't pay attention to as he plays for an NHL team that has been at the bottom of the standing the past few seasons. However the Maple Leafs have a solid offense led by MacArthur, Phil Kessel and Mikhail Grabovski.
Dwayne Roloson (G) Tampa Bay – Other than being traded to Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Detroit or another top NHL team, things could not have worked out more perfectly for Roloson. He went from a team firmly entrenched at the bottom of the standings to an up-and-coming team that seems poised to make some noise in the playoffs. More importantly for fantasy owners is that he is sure to start a majority of the games left in the regular season and should be able to pile up some impressive fantasy numbers.
Cold
Mason Raymond (W) Vancouver– Coming off a season in which he scored 25 goals, big things were expected of Raymond this season. However, going pointless in eight straight games and only lighting the lamp once in the past 11 games certainly has curtailed those expectations of late. What should only make matters worse for fantasy owners is that he has been sent to the fourth line, not exactly a place that will cure your goal-scoring woes.
Mark Giordano (D) Calgary – Giordano has been in a big-time slump lately with only a single assist and a minus-9 rating in his last six games. Giordano was a pleasant surprise for the Flames last season and offensively his numbers are somewhat similar, but his defensive game has taken a plunge. Last year he was a plus-17, which can certainly help a fantasy team, but this year he is struggling in his own end with a minus-11, which may be sinking a fantasy team or two.
Recommended Pickup
Erik Cole (W) Carolina – Remember him? He was once a promising wing with the Canes before being shipped off to Edmonton, and then sent back to Carolina. Well, he's starting to put up some solid numbers again as he has four goals and seven points in his last seven games, which brings his total to 12 and 25 on the season. Could be worth a pickup if you're a little short at wing.
