2026 Fantasy Outlook
Injuries cost Boutte three full games and most of another in 2025, but he otherwise performed well as a low-volume deep threat, leading all qualified pass catchers with 12.0 yards per target. The problem is that he barely qualified, averaging 2.4 catches for 39.4 yards on 3.3 targets per game (over 14 games). The Patriots are happy with what they've gotten from the 2023 sixth-round pick, but not happy enough to keep his job safe. After signing Romeo Doubs in March, the Patriots are said to be frontrunners for A.J. Brown. They also have Mack Hollins, DeMario Douglas and Kyle Williams, though it's not clear all three will still be around in the event of a trade for Brown. Even if things were to break in Boutte's favor from a playing-time standpoint, he'd be unlikely to draw more than a handful of targets per game. Read Past Outlooks

Not at voluntary workouts
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said Tuesday that Boutte is not in attendance for the team's voluntary offseason workout program, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.
ANALYSIS
Boutte has been mentioned in trade rumors as part of the fallout from the steady drumbeat of New England's interest in A.J. Brown, as well as the team's decision to ink Romeo Doubs to a four-year contract at the outset of free agency. A 2023 sixth-round pick, Boutte has compiled back-to-back seasons with over 500 receiving yards, and he posted an impressive 16.7 yards per catch (fifth in the NFL) in 2025.

Boutte had 735 yards as an 18-year-old freshman at LSU back in 2020, followed by 508 yards and nine TDs in six games in 2021, before disappointing in his final season with 538 yards over 11 games. He then dropped to Round 6 of the 2023 Draft after crashing out at the combine with a 4.50 40 and 29-inch vertical (at 5-foot-11, 195). There wasn't much reason to think we'd hear from Boutte again after a two-catch rookie season, but the Patriots gave him a shot last year after their other WRs (besides slot man DeMario Douglas) provided next to nothing. Boutte responded with a long stretch of mediocre receiving lines, averaging 2.5 catches for 33.6 yards on 4.6 targets in his first 10 starts, before erupting over the final three weeks for a combined 16-240-2 receiving line on 19 targets. He drew targets on just 16.4 percent of his routes for the season, but easily led New England's qualified pass catchers in aDOT (14.2), yards per target (8.7) and yards per catch (13.7). While it may not have been enough to lock down a 2025 starting job, Boutte should at least have the chance to compete with rookie third-round pick Kyle Williams -- and there may even be room for both if free-agent signing Stefon Diggs struggles to come back from an ACL tear.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Part of potential Brown trade?
Chad Graff of The Athletic believes the Patriots would have to package Boutte with a 2027 second-round pick in order to make a trade for Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles will likely be seeking at least a first-round pick for Brown, but Graff believes that packaging Boutte with a future second-rounder could be enough to make the trade possible. Boutte did not participate in the Patriots' voluntary workouts in late April, which may have to do with his name swirling around in trade rumors, coupled with the team signing Romeo Doubs to a four-year contract in March. Perhaps a new environment would benefit Boutte, and a trade to the Eagles would have the LSU product in line to compete for the WR3 role behind DeVonta Smith and rookie first-rounder Makai Lemon, assuming Brown is indeed moved to New England.
