Gameday Injuries: Conference Championship Round

Gameday Injuries: Conference Championship Round

This column is meant to offer our best predictions on what players will/will not play, as of 8 AM ET on Sunday. For the official active/inactive reports, please see our Latest NFL Player News.

In a matter of hours, we'll know the participants in Super Bowl LVI, and one of them could well be the NFC squad that calls the SoFi Stadium site of the Big Game home. Fortunately, the injury report is extremely light, even when factoring in there are only four teams in action. All major skill position players on each club are healthy and accounted for, with the only lingering questions heading into Sunday involving some important complementary players.

RUNNING BACKS

The 49ers' Jeff Wilson (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams after only managing a limited Friday practice this past week. If Wilson were to sit out, JaMychal Hasty would be the next man up on the running back depth chart behind Elijah Mitchell, but Deebo Samuel would also be potentially primed for more carries in his hybrid role.

The Chiefs' Darrel Williams (toe) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals after finishing the week with a pair of limited practices. Even if Williams suits up, he could find himself third in the pecking order for carries with Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon ahead of him in the backfield hierarchy.

The Rams' Darrell Henderson (knee) wasn't activated from injured reserve Saturday, ruling him out for Sunday's game against the 49ers.

The Rams' Darrell Henderson (knee) wasn't activated from injured reserve Saturday, ruling him out for Sunday's game against the 49ers. Cam Akers and Sony Michel are expected to handle the ground attack against San Francisco.

The 49ers' Trenton Cannon (concussion) was activated from injured reserve Saturday after last playing Week 13. Cannon has been practicing since Jan. 12, so he could well move back into a full-time kick returner role but is unlikely to see any action from scrimmage.

WIDE RECEIVERS

The Rams' Van Jefferson (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers but did finish the week with two limited practices after a missed Wednesday session. If Jefferson were to sit out Sunday, Ben Skowronek would bump up to the role of No. 3 receiver.

The Bengals' Stanley Morgan (hamstring) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Chiefs after downgrading to a missed practice Friday following a pair of limited sessions to open the week. Morgan would serve as no better than the No. 4 receiver if he does suit up against Kansas City.

KEY DEFENSIVE PLAYERS

Safeties

The Chiefs' Tyrann Mathieu (concussion) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals but finished the week with two full practices.

The Rams' Taylor Rapp (concussion) questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers after practicing in limited fashion all week.
