BIG Clan vs. G2 Esports

Championship Sunday starts in Europe, where BIG Clan and G2 Esports clash for the DreamHack Masters Spring crown. BIG Clan come in as the underdog story of the entire tournament; few predicted the German side would make it out of groups, let alone go 3-0. Even fewer predicted a 2-0 sweep of FaZe Clan in the upper bracket semi-final, only losing to their French opposition, G2, in the upper bracket final. G2, on the other hand, are currently rated No. 2 in the world and come into the match as one of the most in-form teams in Europe. G2 are the heavy favorites, and with the firepower of nexa and huNter-, as well as the omnipresent threat of kennyS' AWP, it's hard to look past the French side, arguably the best team in the world right now. 

BIG Clan are tasked with taking down the French side, and the map veto will be crucial; the last time these teams met all three maps were one-sided. G2 took Mirage and Nuke 32-12 on aggregate, while BIG took Dust2 in a confident 16-6 showing. That Dust2 result is the only victory over G2 that BIG Clan have with this lineup and is one they will need to replicate, especially to make up for the default 1-0 start that G2 bring into the match. Moving past Dust2 -  BIG Clan will ban Train, while G2 will ban Overpass, leaving a map pool of Dust2, Mirage, Inferno, Nuke and Vertigo. BIG will look towards the aforementioned Dust2, alongside Vertigo, a map where BIG boasts a 73 percent win rate in the last three months. The French side prefer Nuke and Mirage, two strong maps for BIG, but two maps where they should have a noticeable advantage, especially if huNter- and nexa show up to their top level. The value in this match comes from the heavily favored French side if they play to their potential, especially kennyS and nexa, who feature quite affordable salaries.

Prediction: BIG Clan 3-2 (3-1 on maps played with G2's 1-0 default start)

Team Liquid vs. FURIA

The second match of the day is the second grand final, the North American edition, as a red-hot Team Liquid look to dethrone the high-flying Brazilians of FURIA, who are arguably the most in-form team in the region. Team Liquid had to play two best-of-three's Saturday to get through the lower bracket, and they swept both, taking down Cloud9 and 100 Thieves in dominant 2-0s, showing why they are the team to beat. FURIA have been waiting in the grand final, qualifying for the match in a hard-fought 2-1 victory over 100 Thieves, a victory that indicates the form that has FURIA as the unlikely favorites in the grand final. FURIA is one of the few teams to hold a head-to-head edge over Team Liquid, but in the last three months the Brazilian side is 8-2 over Team Liquid, and hasn't dropped any of their last four series. 

Team Liquid are looking to do what few teams have done, and take down FURIA as they storm through the upper bracket of DreamHack Masters Spring. FURIA have been so hard to beat because they present threats from every angle and every role. Whether it's the rifle of KSCERATO or yuurih, the AWP of HEN1 or the sheer aggression of arT, FURIA play some of the most aggressive, and accurate, CS:GO in the world. Team Liquid's structured play style will be tested, and so will their firepower - in the lower bracket TL were able to simply overpower Gen.G, Cloud9 and 100 Thieves. The matches were not close, EliGE and NAF simply had far too much skill for any of those sides to handle, but FURIA doesn't have that issue. On their day KSCERATO and yuurih are one of the most deadly duos in the world of CS:GO, and with a map advantage and brimming with confidence, the Brazilians are going to be extremely hard to beat. 

The veto will be crucial for Team Liquid - in their last 10 meetings with FURIA, they have one victory on Nuke and one on Vertigo, every other map has gone the Brazilian way. If Team Liquid want to complete their lower bracket run they will need to find form on Inferno, Nuke, Overpass or Vertigo. FURIA will ban Dust2 (Team Liquid's best map), Team Liquid will ban Train, leaving FURIA to pick their undefeated Mirage, while Team Liquid attempt to build around Nuke. Past the first rotation, Team Liquid should have close chances on Vertigo or Inferno, though down a map Sunday's match will be one of the hardest Team Liquid have faced. The value in this match should come from the side of the Brazilians if they continue their good form, as well as the indomitable duo of Team Liquid. Either side finding firepower from their depth could be the difference maker, especially if Twistzz or arT, the two wildcards of the match, show up in top form.
