Fourth Match Preview: Sydney Sixers vs. Perth Scorchers

The Perth Scorchers have already played a game in the tournament, but they were unable to come out trumps against the Melbourne Renegades earlier this week, as they lost the clash by four wickets.

The Sixers on the other hand will begin their tournament after a disappointing end to Big Bash 7. They had won four games on the trot last season, but even that was not enough as the side ended up finishing fifth on the points table. Hence, they would be eager to begin with a bang and playing at home will give them the much-needed boost as well.

The pitch at the SCG usually has plenty for the pacers, but overall it is a good batting track and a score of 165-170 can be expected.

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-keeper: Sam Whiteman (8 credits)

Sam Whiteman from Perth managed to score only eight runs in the team's opener, but he has enough skills with the bat, which makes him a dangerous prospect. In 37 T20 games, the Western Australia left-hander has struck 526 runs with two fifties and a strike-rate of 120.09.

Batsman: Moises Henriques (10 credits)

Henriques is one of the most popular names in the format. He has plenty of experience in T20s, having played 176 games, scoring more than 3200 runs at a strike-rate of 125.88. The 31-year old is also handy with the ball as well, having scalped 107 wickets with an economy rate of just over eight. He is one of the most experienced

He is one of the most experienced players in the line-up and Sixers will expect him to fire.

All-rounder: Joe Denly (9.5 credits)

Joe Denly is one of the most dangerous all-rounders. Starting off as a leg-spinner, the Englishman has started batting up the order recently. Four T20 hundreds to go with a bowling average of 18.25 and an economy rate of 7.72 makes him a real threat.

Bowler: Andrew Tye (9.5 credits)

Tye is a match-winner in the format and his exploits in the IPL and the BBL are testimony to the fact. He was the most consistent bowler for Perth last season, picking up 16 wickets in six games and was also the highest wicket-taker in the IPL this season, impressing on placid tracks that hardly assist the seamers in April-May. He has been consistent in various T20 leagues around the world as well, picking up 159 wickets in 109 T20 matches with an economy rate of 7.86. His ability to control the runs upfront and in the death makes him a dangerous prospect.

Captain: Andrew Tye

Vice-captain: Moises Henriques
