Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Wednesday will be a busy night in the NBA with eight games on the schedule. Injuries continue to be a common theme throughout the league, making some players DFS relevant who normally wouldn't be someone to keep on your radar. Let's examine some players across the price scale to target and avoid while creating your Yahoo entry.

GUARDS

Terry Rozier, BOS vs. CHA ($21): Rozier started in place of Kyrie Irving on Monday against the Nets and thrived with 37.9 Yahoo points. That came as little surprise considering he's averaged 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.7 steals across seven starts this year. With Irving expected to be sidelined once again Wednesday, Rozier is a great option to consider.

Jerryd Bayless, MIN vs. MEM ($15): The Timberwolves have already ruled out Jeff Teague (foot) and Tyus Jones (ankle) for this contest while Derrick Rose (ankle) is listed as questionable. Bayless is one of the few healthy point guards that they have left, which has enabled him to score at least 27.6 Yahoo points in each of their last four games. He's even logged at least 37 minutes in back-to-back games, so don't hesitate to deploy him in tournament play if Rose is forced to sit out again.

Guard to Avoid

Jeremy Lamb, CHA at BOS ($20): Lamb has emerged as one of the primary scoring options for the Hornets by averaging a career-high 15.2 points per game. The problem is, he doesn't provide significant contributions in other areas with averages of 5.6 rebounds, two assists and one steal per game. His reliance on scoring to provide value could be a problem Wednesday since the Celtics are tied for the fifth-fewest points per game allowed (105.9) in the league.

FORWARDS

Luka Doncic, DAL at NY ($42): Doncic is rolling right now with at least 44.6 Yahoo points in seven of his last 10 games. He even has two triple-doubles across his last four contests. The Mavericks have wasted no time making him the focal point of their offense, leaving Doncic to post a team-high 28.6 percent usage rate. The next highest player on the team is Harrison Barnes at 23.3 percent. Don't be surprised to see Doncic continue his hot streak Wednesday considering the Knicks allow the sixth-most points per game (115).

Marcus Morris, BOS vs. CHA ($19): Rozier isn't the only player who will need to step up without Irving on the floor Wednesday since Irving has a lofty 29.5 percent usage rate. Morris attempted 13 shots without Irving on Monday and now has the fourth-highest usage rate (21 percent) on the team. His upside might not be off the charts, but Morris has a relatively high floor based on his role.

Forward to Avoid

Joe Ingles, UTA at POR ($19): Ingles is slumping right now with 28.4 Yahoo points or fewer in seven of his last eight games. He's still receiving plenty of playing time, but his 17.7 percent usage rate doesn't leave him with a ton of upside, especially since he is only shooting 42.8 percent from the field. The Blazers held Ingles to 13.4 Yahoo points when these two teams met last week, so it's hard to get overly excited about him at this price.

CENTERS

Jahlil Okafor, NO vs. DEN ($19): Okafor's rise from the ashes has been one of the biggest surprises in the league. After barely playing last season and at the start of this year, he has been thrust into a starting role due to the myriad of Pelicans' injuries. To say he's played well is an understatement considering he's scored at least 41 Yahoo points in four of his last five games. If Julius Randle (ankle) is out again Wednesday, Okafor should once again receive all of the playing time that he can handle.

Mitchell Robinson, NY vs. DAL ($10): After sitting out each of the Knicks' last four games, it sure doesn't look like Enes Kanter is returning to the floor anytime soon. Since Luke Kornet (ankle) is also out, that leaves Robinson and Noah Vonleh as the only viable options the Knicks have left at center. Robinson still has a long way to go in his development, but his knack for blocking shots has helped propel him to at least 22.8 Yahoo points in five straight games. At the minimum price, he's a very intriguing option in tournament play.

Center to Avoid

Thomas Bryant, WAS vs. IND ($17): Even though the Wizards are extremely thin at center, Bryant has logged 26 minutes or fewer in 10 of their last 12 games. That has resulted in him scoring 27.9 Yahoo points or fewer in all 10 of those contests. The Pacers already allow the fewest Yahoo points per game (41.5) to opposing centers, so combining that with Bryant's lack of playing time makes him someone to stay away from when crafting your lineup.
