Tallies on power play
DPhiladelphia Flyers
May 5, 2026
Drysdale scored a power-play goal on four shots in Monday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Hurricanes in Game 2.
ANALYSIS
Drysdale's goal gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead at 4:02 of the first period. That was the first time the Hurricanes have trailed all postseason. Drysdale has two goals, two assists, 15 shots on net, 11 blocked shots, four PIM and a minus-3 rating across eight playoff outings. He should continue to provide some offense while seeing top-four minutes on the Flyers' blue line.

2021
In his first full campaign with the Flyers, Drysdale contributed seven goals, 20 points, 22 PIM, 63 shots on goal, 102 blocked shots and a minus-32 rating over 70 appearances. The smooth-skating 23-year-old has an opportunity to quarterback the No. 1 power-play unit in 2025-26 -- the Flyers ended last season with five forwards on the top combination, but it remains to be seen how new head coach Rick Tocchet will deploy his groups. If Drysdale can take over that aforementioned role, a career year could be in store, as the Ontario native has never had more than 32 points in a season, though injuries have been a major limiting factor in past years. Besides offense, Drysdale can offer decent utility with blocked shots (102 in 2024-25), but he has yet to provide meaningful value in the form of shots on goal, hits and PIM during his five-year career.
There was no reason to suggest the Ducks were looking to move Drysdale, but once the Flyers made Cutter Gauthier available in trade in early January, the rearguard was shipped to Philly. Drysdale missed more than a month late in the year due to injury, ultimately finishing with two goals and five points in 24 games with his new club. He then underwent offseason sports hernia surgery but is expected to be fully recovered in time for training camp. Drysdale is still just 22 years of age and has plenty of long-term upside, but his immediate fantasy value will be tied to his ability to earn power-play time for the Flyers this coming season. With Cam York and Travis Sanheim around, there's no guarantee that will happen.
Drysdale gave the world a glimpse of his promise in 2021-22 when he posted four goals and 32 points in 81 contests, but the defenseman logged just eight games last season before a torn labrum in his left shoulder ended his campaign. That was a big setback for the 21-year-old, but he's expected to be completely healthy for the start of the 2023-24 campaign. It wouldn't be surprising to see him pick up right where he left off, serving in a top-four role while also receiving at least some power-play ice time. Drysdale might not be one of the league's top offensive defensemen yet, but he is a solid candidate to record 30-40 points this season and has the potential to do even better in the long run.
Playing nearly the entirety of his first full NHL campaign at age 19, Drysdale tallied 32 points in 81 games while averaging nearly 20 minutes (19:53) of ice time per game. He was particularly effective with the man advantage, adding a dozen power-play points. That's the good news. The bad news is that Drysdale posted a horrific minus-26 rating, although that was more the result of Ducks' poor play as a team as opposed to anything Drysdale himself did wrong. Anaheim's signing of John Klingberg to a one-year, $7 million deal in free agency could very well serve to curtail Drysdale's power-play time, which means he could struggle for standard league value. He's still a fine keeper/dynasty asset.
With the OHL season cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ducks made the unorthodox decision to let Drysdale play 24 NHL games as an 18-year-old in 2020-21. It was a strange choice considering the club is in the middle of a rebuild, but Drysdale hardly looked overmatched, posting eight points while averaging 19:35 of ice time per game. Drysdale's future is extremely bright and he's arguably Anaheim's most valuable asset behind forward Trevor Zegras, but he managed just 28 shots on goal in those 24 games, and he offers nothing in terms of hits or blocks. Fantasy owners in redraft leagues can probably wait a couple seasons before pouncing.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Negotiating contract
DPhiladelphia Flyers
July 3, 2026
Drysdale and the Flyers are believed to be working on a multi-year contract, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Pagnotta believes Drysdale will command an annual salary in the neighborhood of $6 million. That would be a sizable pay bump compared to his completed three-year, $6.9 million contract, but it's not surprising that the restricted free agent is looking at a big payday. The 24-year-old defenseman had eight goals, 32 points, 33 PIM, 16 hits and 94 blocks while averaging 21:33 of ice time across 78 regular-season appearances with Philadelphia in 2025-26. He should continue to serve in a top-four capacity for years to come.
