2026 Fantasy Outlook
Maye’s first full season as starter went better than even Patriots fans probably imagined. He finished QB2 in fantasy, was second in MVP voting and took New England to the Super Bowl. Maye’s league-leading 72.0 completion percentage was the sixth highest in NFL history, all the more impressive considering his average target depth was 9.1 yards, the highest of any QB in the top 20 all-time in completion rate. Maye went downfield at the fifth-highest rate in the league (37.2%), ranking third in completion percentage on attempts of 20-plus yards (52.1) and leading the league with an 8.9 YPA. In addition to finishing fourth in passing yards (4,394) and third in TD passes (31), his rushing production vaulted him up the fantasy rankings. Maye was fourth among QBs with 450 rushing yards, adding four scores. He benefited from an extremely light schedule, however. The Patriots didn’t face a top-10 defense until the playoffs (eight games vs. bottom-10 defenses) and in the Super Bowl against the league’s best defense, the Seahawks, Maye got smoked. He’ll play a first-place schedule this year, but his rushing was largely built on scrambles anyway -- first both in scramble runs (62) and scramble run rate (10.3%) -- and his passing will benefit if the rumored trade for A.J. Brown happens. If not, then he’ll deal with the same group of lackluster receivers he won with last year, except for swapping Stefon Diggs for Romeo Doubs. A top-5 fantasy season is reasonable, especially if Brown joins the team. Read Past Outlooks

Tough showing in Super Bowl
Maye completed 27 of 43 passes for 295 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 29-13 loss in the Super Bowl to the Seahawks. He added five rushes for 37 yards and also lost a fumble.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear if a nagging shoulder injury impacted Maye's performance, but he was stymied by Seattle's defense for the vast majority of Super Bowl LX. He had 60 passing yards through three quarters, and his most meaningful contribution to the game came on consecutive passes early in the final quarter with the Patriots down three scores, when he found Mack Hollins for gains of 24 and 35 yards -- the latter of which went for a touchdown. Maye's performance was otherwise dominated by negative plays, as he was sacked six times for a loss of 43 yards, and he also turned the ball over three times -- two of which led directly to touchdowns for the Seahawks. Though it was a disappointing close to the season, Maye had a breakout sophomore campaign by posting a 31:8 TD:INT while averaging 8.9 yards per attempt across 17 regular-season games.

2024
Maye, the third pick in the 2024 Draft, began last season behind Jacoby Brissett but took over the starting job for good by Week 6. He fought through knee and hand injuries and a concussion, plus he struggled with interceptions (3.0 INT percentage, seventh-highest), but overall he did enough to inspire much hope among the Patriots faithful. Maye’s 72.8 on-target percentage ranked 18th, and his 66.6 completion percentage was 13th. That was built on a lot of short passes, though. His average target depth was 7.3 yards (23rd), with nearly 70 percent of his attempts going less than 10 yards downfield. It’s perhaps surprising Maye’s strong arm wasn’t put to better use, but the Patriots lacked downfield weapons -- well, any weapons -- and the coaching staff was so ineffective that it got flushed after just one season. Proven offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, back in New England for the third time, should greatly benefit Maye, and the Patriots upgraded their roster with free agents WR Stefon Diggs (assuming he’s healthy after an ACL injury last year), RT Morgan Moses and C Garrett Bradbury. They then drafted LT Will Campbell (fourth overall), RB TreVeyon Henderson (38th) and WR Kyle Williams (69th). The latter’s 4.4 speed may give Maye the deep threat he lacked last year. Maye also has good wheels (7.8 YPC on 54 rushes) and loves to scramble, which may be his ticket to establishing value in single-QB leagues.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Team bolsters WR room with Doubs
Maye will have a notable new wide receiver to throw to, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Patriots agreed to a four-year contract with Romeo Doubs on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Doubs had 724 receiving yards with the Packers in the 2025 regular season, which is more than any Patriots wide receiver currently on the roster mustered. Stefon Diggs led the team with 1,013 regular-season receiving yards but was released Wednesday for salary cap-relief purposes. Maye will likely spread the ball around in 2026, much as he did in his breakout 2025 campaign.
