Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Tuesday brings only one game in the NBA, which is Game 5 between the Bucks and Nets. This matchup also provides an opportunity to play Yahoo's single game contest, which comes with a bit of a twist.

In addition to selecting two flex players, there are three multiplier positions. A player slotted into the Megastar spot will earn double their fantasy points scored. The Superstar spot will earn 1.5X their fantasy points scored. Finally, the Star will earn 1.2X their fantasy points scored. With that in mind, let's discuss some players to consider.

MULTIPIERS

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($54): During the regular season, Giannis averaged 18.0 shot attempts per game. He's been more aggressive against the Nets, averaging 24.0 attempts in the series. That's helped propel him to an average of 29.8 points per game. Add in his averages of 12.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists and he's an ideal open for one of the multiplier positions.

Kevin Durant ($49): Already down James Harden (hamstring), the Nets will now be forced to play Game 5 without Kyrie Irving (ankle) as well. That leaves the bulk of the scoring responsibilities squarely on the shoulders of Durant, who is already averaging 29.8 points and 24.0 shot attempts per game in this series. The only real negative for him in this series is that he's shot just 45.8 percent from the field, which is down from his season shooting percentage of 53.7 percent. With all of the minutes and shot attempts coming his way that he can handle, he has one of the highest floors of any player in this game.

Khris Middleton ($29): Middleton was as cold as ice from the field in the first two games of this series, shooting a combined 30.2 percent. He rebounded to shoot 47.5 percent across the two games in Milwaukee, leaving him to score 51.5 and 44.8 Yahoo points, respectively. Combine his average of 37 minutes per game in the playoffs with his lead supporting role behind Giannis and Middleton could once again provide value.

FLEX PLAYS

Blake Griffin ($14): Griffin stormed out of the gates in this series with 42.3 Yahoo points in Game 1. He's come back down to Earth since then, but he's still scored at least 21.5 Yahoo points in each of the other three games. While he's still not likely to see increased scoring opportunities, even with Harden and Irving out, he should receive enough playing time to be worth considering at such a cheap salary.

Bruce Brown ($12): With all of the injuries that the Nets have battled through this season, Brown has found himself in a prominent role more often than not. He had a quiet performance in Game 4, scoring just 13.2 Yahoo points and attempting only five shots from the field. However, he had scored at least 24.3 Yahoo points in each of the previous three games. With the potential for more shot attempts in Game 5, Brown could be an excellent option.

PLAYER TO AVOID

Brook Lopez ($20): This is more about trying to build a lineup around Lopez's salary than it is anything else. He's too risky for one of the multiplier spots given that he has scored 25.5 Yahoo points or fewer in two of the four games in this series. If you use him as one of your flex plays, then it makes it difficult to go with both Giannis and Durant in the multiplier spots, which is a strategy that could be key given their respective roles.
