Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Monday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

With the entire first round of the playoffs in the books, we have two second-round games on the schedule Monday. Let's discuss some players to consider for your Yahoo lineups, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARDS

Devin Booker, PHO vs. DEN ($34): Booker had a monster performance to close out the Lakers, scoring 64.7 Yahoo points in Game 6. He scored at least 30.9 Yahoo points in five of the six games in that series and twice surpassed 50 Yahoo points. Expect him to have a high floor in this series, as well, given his leading role within the Suns offense.

Monte Morris, DEN at PHO ($18): The absence of Jamal Murray has forced the Nuggets to rely more on Morris. He started things off quietly in the first round against the Trail Blazers, but he scored at least 42.1 Yahoo points in both of the final two games of the series. The key is that he logged at least 33 minutes in both of those games. Considering how well he played, he should receive extended playing time moving forward.

Guard to Avoid

Facundo Campazzo, DEN at PHO ($18): Morris playing more means Campazzo is going to play less. He didn't log more than 23 minutes in either of the first two games against the Blazers, leaving him to score 6.4 and 21.9 Yahoo points, respectively. With Morris checking in at the same salary, avoiding Campazzo might be wise.

FORWARDS

Kevin Durant, BKN vs. MIL ($48): It didn't take long for the Nets to become shorthanded again. James Harden (hamstring) went down in the first minute of Game 1 against the Bucks and did not return. That meant an expanded role for Durant, who scored 51.5 Yahoo points across 40 minutes. With Harden out again for Game 3, Durant has an extremely high floor.

Bruce Brown, BKN vs. MIL ($11): The injury to Harden should open up more playing time for Brown. He played 21 minutes in Game 1 and scored 24.3 Yahoo points thanks to his four rebounds, three assists and two blocks. He's scored at least that many Yahoo points in three straight playoff games, which makes him an intriguing option at near the minimum salary,

Forward to Avoid

Joe Harris, BKN vs. MIL ($17): With Harris' ability to hit three-pointers in bunches, he can go off on any given night. However, even with Harden out, Harris has to contend with Durant and Kyrie Irving for shot attempts. Also, he doesn't provide much outside of the scoring column, averaging 3.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists for the season. The general lack of production in those areas contributed to him scoring only 26.4 Yahoo points in Game 1 despite scoring 19 points.

CENTERS

Nikola Jokic, DEN at PHO ($50): Jokic was the leader of the Nuggets' scoring attack this season, averaging 26.4 points per game. He stepped up his scoring efforts in the first round, scoring at least 34 points in five of the six games. While that has come at the expense of his assists, he still averaged 4.5 dimes per game in the series. With Murray out, expect Jokic to continue to jack up shots at will.

Brook Lopez, MIL at BKN ($19): The Nets like to play small, which often left Lopez with a mismatch in Game 1. He took advantage by scoring 25.5 Yahoo points across 28 minutes. While Jokic is the top option at the center spot, Lopez is at least worth considering if you want to differentiate your lineup in tournament play.

Center to Avoid

Bobby Portis, MIL at BKN ($12): Portis averaged 21 minutes per game during the regular season, emerging as a key member of the Bucks' bench. However, he's seen his playing time decline in the playoffs, averaging just 18 minutes per game. The result was him scoring no more than 22.0 Yahoo points in a game and scoring fewer than 20.0 Yahoo points three times.
