Yahoo DFS Basketball: Friday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

The NBA closes out the work week with two more playoff games for us to enjoy. The Suns will look to take a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Nuggets while the Hawks while try to gain the advantage over the Sixers with the series shifting to Atlanta. Let's discuss some players to consider in DFS from these games, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARDS

Chris Paul, PHO at DEN ($28): The added time off between the first and second rounds seems to have done wonders for Paul's shoulder. He's dominated the first two games of the series against the Nuggets by scoring 46.7 and 48.5 Yahoo points, respectively. Paul also recorded a double-double in both contests while shooting a combined 58.3 percent from the field. As long as his shoulder continues to improve, he should remain one of the Suns' more productive players.

Seth Curry, PHI at ATL ($15): Curry has been dialed in from behind the arc by hitting 13-for-21 (61.9 percent) over the last three outings. He'll have a hard time remaining that efficient over the long haul, but he did shoot a career-high 45.0 percent from deep this season. The Sixers should continue to ask Curry to jack up three-pointers at will, making him an appealing option at this reasonable salary.

Guard to Avoid

Bogdan Bogdanovic, ATL vs. PHI ($28): Despite playing 41 minutes in Game 2, Bogdanovic only scored 26.4 Yahoo points. After an efficient regular season, he's only shot 39.4 percent from the field over the first two games this series. Given the Sixers boasted the league's second-best defensive rating during the regular season, Bogdanovic might continue to struggle in Game 3.

FORWARDS

Tobias Harris, PHI at ATL ($35): Harris has been a rock for the Sixers during their playoff run by scoring at least 20 points in six of their seven contests. The one time he failed to reach that threshold he still accumulated 19 points in only 23 minutes during a blowout win against the Wizards. Harris has also made his presence felt in other areas by averaging 9.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals. Expect him to remain one of the main supporting players behind Joel Embiid moving forward.

Kevin Huerter, ATL vs. PHI ($15): The Hawks received some tough news when they found out De'Andre Hunter would need knee surgery. He's now out for the rest of the playoffs, opening up added playing time for Huerter. After only averaging 23 minutes per game in the first round against the Knicks, he's logged at least 29 minutes in both matchups against the Sixers in Hunter's absence and has scored 29.0 and 27.4 Yahoo points.

Forward to Avoid

Michael Porter Jr., DEN vs. PHO ($28): Porter was battling a back injury heading into Game 2. And while he was able to play, he didn't look like himself shooting just 3-for-13 from the field while recording 11 points and six rebounds across 28 minutes. Porter has a history of back issues, so he still might not be completely healthy even though he's listed as probable tonight.

CENTERS

Joel Embiid, PHI at ATL ($47): The Sixers continue to list Embiid as questionable, which they have done since he suffered a recent knee injury. But he logged at last 35 minutes in both games this series, so expect him to busy in this contest. The Hawks have been unable to provide much resistance, which helped Embiid drop 63.8 and 64.6 Yahoo points, respectively.

Deandre Ayton, PHO at DEN ($28): This is a top-heavy slate for centers. After the top four with a salary of at least $28, no other player is above $10. The latter category should all be considered as nothing more than punt plays in tournament formats. If you do want to fade Embiid and Nikola Jokic ($50), then Ayton might be worth considering. He's recorded a double-double in both games this series, which is even more impressive when you consider he only saw 26 minutes during a blowout win in Game 2.

Center to Avoid

Clint Capela, ATL vs. PHI ($28): Capela has the unfortunate task of trying to slow down Embiid. While focusing much of his efforts on the defensive end, he's only attempted 16 total shots across the first two against Philly. Capela didn't grab more than 10 rebounds in either, which is noteworthy considering he averaged 14.3 boards during the regular season. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him continue to provide muted production moving forward based on the matchup.
