David Wright, 3B, NYM (Shoulder) - An MRI performed on his left shoulder revealed no structural damage, but a few more absences, at the very least, are sure to arise as a result of the ailment.

Bryce Harper, OF, WAS (Thumb) - Sat out Sunday's rehab outing at Double-A Harrisburg, which intimates his possible activation from the DL.

Closer Watch

Rays - Nabbing his second save in as many situations Saturday, Jake McGee appears to be the favored choice of manager Joe Maddon at the moment. In Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Orioles, McGee followed Grant Balfour's blank eighth inning by striking out two en route to his second save of the year. Only one day later, McGee cleaned up Balfour's minor mess -- two baserunners among four batters faced -- inducing a flyout to lock down the eighth, before securing two additional punchouts to gather the save. Although few such scenarios are landing in the doorstep of the Rays' bullpen this season, McGee's track record over the last two months has seemingly endeared him to Maddon, as he's yielded runs only once while posting a 31:6 K:BB across 24 frames (26 contests). Balfour cannot say the same -- a 5.22 ERA, 1.452 WHIP, and 21:12 K:BB in 20.2 innings (22 outings) -- but with a bullpen-by-committee in effect, he isn't entirely off the closer radar, either.

Recommended Pickup

Dayan Viciedo, OF, CWS - With two hits in his first 35 at-bats, Viciedo couldn't have kicked off June any worse. However, since belting a single to center in his first plate appearance on June 13, the outfielder has failed to supply a base knock in just five of 16 games. A .228 average (13-for-57) during that span has spurred owners to look elsewhere (7.1 percent owned in ESPN leagues), but on a positive note, he's crossed the plate on 10 occasions, while posting a .421 SLG on the backs on three long balls, one triple, and one double. Facing the stingy Garrett Richards on Monday may not seem friendly on the surface, but Viciedo boasts singles in both career at-bats against the Angels' right-hander, making his $4,200 pricetag on DraftStreet.com a worthy gamble.
